The Iron Lady… marvelous!
I recall a story from Reagan… told by a number of folks in a number of sources.
While Reagan and Thatcher were staunch allies, she was not one to simply roll over. The Prime Minister told you where she stood, and at least at one time she rang up the White House to tell President Reagan where she thought he was wrong. She didn’t simply state it, she was apparently stern and descriptive.
Reagan moved the phone from his ear so that the other person (people) in the room could hear… and they could hear every word she said.
The President beamed, “Isn’t she wonderful?”
They had a very good understanding and appreciation of each other… and Reagan conveyed that well in this story.
