I’m one of those who is a slave to a regular watch. When I don’t wear one, I end up looking at my wrist about twice as often than when I am wearing one. I tried to get my kids hooked on that, and my daughter liked her watch, but since she is a swimmer, that didn’t last long. My son? Hasn’t worn his a single time. But he isn’t old enough yet to need to keep track of time for anything. So maybe someday…

I have rarely been a slave to watch-fashion because I am so resourceful when it comes to losing watches.

I think that I remember watches! In fact, I have a few in various drawers around the old homestead. They came in all forms and were only good for knowing the time. Most of the time, they were even correct. When we compare them with all of our modern do dads and electronic stuff, they look pretty irrelevant.

I own several, most are wind-ups. Love ’em all but I really like my Russki Poljat. A valjoux knock-off, made on surplus valjoux machines, assembled by valjoux trained Russki’s….loses a full minute a day.
A true testament to Communist quality and work ethic.

(Other than a wedding band) the one and only piece of jewelry that it is always appropriate for a man to wear. Heavy hitters know about and look at your watch. Costly thy timepiece as thy purse can buy.
