I Did Not Know That…

By Mitch Berg

…but, honestly, I’d wondered in the past week or so. Whatever happened to these people?

Jeff Kouba found out:

The lead singer for Quarterflash, Rindy Ross, and her husband Marv, who was also in Quarterflash, went on to form a traditional and folk music band called The Trail Band.

Well, cool.  It’s always neat to see someone you dug twenty years ago isn’t in treatment or working night stock at a Walmart…

Especially not at a Walmart on University, since that’s a Big Box Retailer that we hate and must destroy because we want leafy cobblestone paths winding between the trendy shoppes in our new Sim City – Light Rail Development Edition.

Remember those PowerPoints? They’re on the front page of the Pi Press today. Oh yeah, full blown liberal New Urbanist idealism, here it comes.

I always hope they still own the rights to their hit songs. Too many bands had to sell their rights to their royalties to make it big. Michael Jackson, Dick Clark, or Paul McCartney own many of the rights and get the royalties from a ton of old bands.

Rindy Ross? That sounds like Scooby Doo talk.

I played saxophone from about 1977 until 1981. Quarterflash bears some of the responsibility for my decision to quit. I didn’t like the sax much before I started learning it, but Rindy Ross’s playing sent me over the edge.

If you were paying attention to the Rindy Rosses saxophone, you needed to quit.

My attention was, er, focused elsewhere.
