  1. The reporters weren’t “robbed”, nor can an unattended vehicle be “robbed”. They were the victims of a (from a motor vehicle), as well as damage to property. The actual victims would be the owners of the stolen or damaged property, most likely their employer.

    Big difference between robbery and theft. This is an example of either ignorance or intentional misdirection by the media.

  2. One would figure that a TV camera crew would know enough about the town they work in to be able to figure out whether the app was working without leaving the office. Apparently, however, they know less about their own town than any taxi driver or pizza delivery man.

    On the bright side, I’m guessing that network news equipment can’t easily be fenced, and so I wonder if someone could, say, pull some prints off the stolen equipment and help put some of DC’s finest where they belong.
