That is the percentage Obama is proposing to cut from the budget to reduce the deficit.
A senior administration officials says President Barack Obama is ready to ask federal department and agency chiefs to find $100 million to cut from the budget when he holds his first formal Cabinet meeting.
Now before you jump to the conclusion that this is some sort of PR stunt on the part of Jimmy Carter II, consider this:
If you were applying the same reduction to the purchase of a $50,000 car, it would amount to $1.41. If you were applying the same reduction to a family’s monthly budget of $4000 per month, it would amount to 11 cents per month. (!!!)
OK – go ahead and jump to the aforementioned conclusions now.
As for me, I can’t wait to get home tonight and tell my kids that our government is mortgaging their future a wee bit less than we thought!

It’s the thought that counts.

Mitch Mitch Mitch. Didn’t you learn anything from Clinton and Dick Morris. It’s all about the show. Polling showed that people don’t like the $1.3T deficit. So they do a token cut.
And it worked. I heard two radio stations this morning report that Obama called his staff together and instructed them to “sharpen their pencils” to find cuts. They didn’t report that it was just budget dust being cut. So listeners think that it is real. You have to give him credit, Obama is a master campaigner. That’s change we can believe in compared to Bush, who didn’t care what people thought.

If Obama is really doing this to reassure voters that he’s trying to make sure that taxpayer dollars are being wisely spent, wouldn’t this be a terrific opportunity for the same fiscal conservatives who voted against the Obama-Reid-Pelosi Generational Theft Act to bring a bill to the floor proposing TEN BILLION in cuts (100 times the amount BHO has proposed) by removing some of the pork from Obama’s “stimulus bill”?

Which is also infinetely more than Bush ever managed to cut out of pork for Iraq. Cough*missing 15 Billion*Cough.

Kermit…..oops. Note to myself. Watch the author.
Pengwin.: A) Bush and the congress blew a money.
B) But could have increased spending by another trillion dollars, then cut out $100M of it. Just like Obama.

Bush gave the Middle Class real tax cuts. Obama gave us $8 a week without lowering the brackets.
Learn how to spell “infinite”, Peev. As far as spending goes, Great Leader is going to give it a shot.

Obama goes to the bother of cutting peanuts because some people are dumb enough to believe that he actually cares about fiscal responsibility. With respect to folks like Penigma I’m not sure why he bothers though. There’s likely nothing Obama could do to lose his support (other than stick an (R) by his name of course).

Cough*missing 15 Billion*Cough.
At the rate he’s going, P-BO blows $15B every time he lifts a cheek off the oval office chair and lets go a “silent but violent”.

Peeve, let’s put this in perspective since you typically lack that. Suppose I grant you that Bush “missed” 15 billion. Even if I do, that “missing” 15 billion is 3 days of Obama’s DEFICIT for this year.

Peev must have run along to his Penisblog.
We have yet to see any skepticism or criticism toward peev’s Obamassiah.
