Under the Obama administration’s expanding (and likely illlegal, not that that matters) definition of “refugee”, people fleeing Chicago’s violence, or Detroit’s impending mass of water shut offs, would be considered “refugees” for fleeing to Canada.
Except, of course, Canada isn’t going to take them…

For as much as you bang on Chicago’s violence, they’re actually fewer killings per capita in Chicago (18.2/100K) than in Detroit (54.6/100K). Chicago is only 80% more deadly than Minneapolis, and 300% more deadly than St. Paul…

I’ve written about that in the past, noting that the violence in Chicago is highly concentrated in several neighborhoods. That 18.2/100K is city-wide – but jumps waaaaay up when you get into some of the worse parts of town.
It’s similar to Minneapolis; with its 8-10/100K; most of the city is as placid as Mankato, but the North Side, Downtown and Phillips make up for it.
Obviously you didn’t get the memo, Mr. Berg. The proximate cause of gun violence in the U.S. is the NRA.
