Today’s Musical Palate-Cleanser

By Mitch Berg

If you’ve got sixteen minutes to spare, here’s an answer to the question “so was the E Street Band ever any more than three chords and a big finish?”

That’s “Kitty’s Back” – a deep deep cut from 1974’s The Wild, The Innocent And The E Street Shuffle, from 1975’s legendary Hammersmith Odeon gig.

It’s frustrating, sometimes, to observe that the E Street Band hasn’t played anything like this in a couple of decades.

Thanks for sharing this — I love a lot of Springsteen songs, but Kitty’s Back is probably my fave.

Fantastic Mitch, loved it ! Darn hard to believe that was 40 years ago, where the hell did the time go?

Not my cup of tea musically but man, what a band.

    PS: Nice haircut Danny!

Also not a fan, but a great tune. Thanks for the exposure to it.

Got to love that old Danelectro Long Horn bass (four-string). Those things (Danelectros in general) tend to show up quite often in the old videos of some pretty big groups. I’ve got a reissue six string guitar. Wish I’d have grabbed an original back when they were cheap and uncool …
