It’s Twue! It’s Twue!
By Mitch Berg
I’ve created a bit of a mathematical law, derived from observing liberals.
When they’re quoting numbers (except for spending figures), divide by an order of magnitude. Maybe two. Maaaaaybe more.
For example: the Million Man March? That was a bit of an outlier: according to the Park Service, you needed to divide that by a trifling 2.5.
The Million Mom March? An order up front, a little over two today.
Nancy Pelosi’s joblessness estimate?
Look – I understand flubs. Even though Barack Obama went to Harvard (and thus only needs to really know three or four states for real) I’m pretty sure he knows there are fifty states.
Although it’d be fun to quiz him on near-eastern and Central Asian languages; d’ya suppose Charlie Gibson is available?

Mitch, should we go into Reagan’s and Bush’s mistakes :)?
Let’s just start with one – “Iraq will cost no where near 50 Billion, maybe 5-15” (Dick Cheney)
Each side bends figures to their chosing.

Peev, you are making up quotes again. If you are not making a direct quote don’t use those quote marks.
February 5th, 2009 at 10:11 am
Peevee, what does Ronald Reagan have to do with Pelosi, or with anything pertaining to the last 18 years? For God’s sake, just STFU.
Meanwhile, we were talking about this at work yesterday. It’s notable not because it’s so over the top wrong, but it’s coming from the one person you would expect to be able to cite economic figures, correctly, or at least in the ball park, at will.
This woman is leading the charge to pour a bundle of cash into the breeze the likes of which we really need Carl Sagan to help us get a handle on, and she obviously doesn’t have a frickin’ clue.

Typical response of… but but but but Bush did blah blah blah….
What up with the double standard? I still have the George W Bushisms day calander a friend gave me. When will the Obama/biden/pelosi-isms calander come out? Don’t hold your breath.
One of my favorites:
“When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, ‘Look, here’s what happened.” –Joe Biden
I wonder how long peevs BDS will last.

Miss Peev still is griping about GW AND Reagan?!?!?!
Hell, guys… we’re going to have fun in four years time!

With a title like “It’s Twue! It’s Twue!” I figured Barney Frank made another gaff.

I think we should have a Nancy Pelosi jobless count down. I believe she made the statement yesterday, so I guess every man, woman & child in America will be jobless by February 21.

I don’t think he meant Barney Frank, Mr. Shirt.
Mitch, I sincerely hope that you weren’t referencing Blazing Saddles with this reference. Although I suppose we’re all going to get von Schtupped by the current regime, one way or another.

“You men are all alike. Seven or eight quick ones and you’re off with the boys. To boast and brag. You better keep your mouth shut! Oh, I think I love him….”

“so I guess every man, woman & child in America will be jobless by February 21.”
Isn’t that the talk like Metallicahh day? sorry, forgot dude’s name. And Mitch, I lied, I didn’t mark my calendahhh. 😉

Mr. D, my meaning was that I expected ,due to the title, Barney to be part of the post. Being a hate filled neo-con, I was picking low hanging fruit & making fun of his speech impediment. 😉
FWIW, I’m not sure why it double posted… apologies!
February 5th, 2009 at 4:02 pm
Did you just call Barney Frank a low hanging fruit?
February 5th, 2009 at 4:59 pm
😀 I was going to say that he talks like there’s something in his mouth, but thought that might be in bad taste… whoops, did it again!
February 5th, 2009 at 5:09 pm
The jokes pretty much write themselves, don’t they, Mr. Shirt?
February 5th, 2009 at 8:36 pm
Oh yeah, I could just keep pulling them out of my rear all night!

“Maybe she’s talking about ACORN registered voters . . . ”
“Except Pelosi has done it _more_than_once! This is a set piece with her.
Jan 18, 2009: Transcript: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on ‘FNS’
PELOSI: …But in terms of what we have to do in the first 100 days, we must address the needs of this country. Five hundred million people will lose their jobs each month until we have an economic package.
WALLACE: No, 500,000.
PELOSI: What did I say, million?
WALLACE: Yes, 500 million. That would really be a recession.
PELOSI: Oh, no. Excuse me. Thank you for correcting me.
WALLACE: Yes.
PELOSI: It feels like 500 million. Five hundred thousand Americans will lose their jobs each month until we have a recovery package.
This is the only retraction I could find and that only because Wallace called her on it. Note she managed to get another 500 Million number in there even after correction, another absurd exageration even if only a feeeeling.
Typical big lie tactic exagerate the hell out of it. People remember the sound byte, not the retraction which they may or may not hear depending on which venue she uses it in.”
It’s obvious to everyone she’s just going off the registered Democrat rolls…. You know, the graveyard, the illegals, the multiple voters etc… In fact, by my estimation, she should be able to claim another 100 million or so unemployed in Minnesota! Check for more Al Franken votes to show up!
Yet, a day or so later in her next speech she re-made the same statement.
Yeah, she’s on top of things.
