…for the guy in the next cube over to bring the Samoas I ordered two weeks ago, it’s interesting to peruse the history of Girl Scout Cookies.
It’s informative – although I have yet to see where the connection to Samoa is…

They should really think about selling those cookies before the holidays when I am a little easier on myself about cookies and other goodies. Alas, it never fails the emails come in for GS cookies right after I’ve become more determined to be healthier. My faves are the thin mints and the trefoils. 😉

Manufacturers supplying girl scout cookies have changed periodically. The names were part of their copyright issues. I seem vaguely to recall that Samoas were substituted for some other kind of cookie when the producer changed ages and ages ago. If I remember correctly, Samoa was the name provided by one of the manufacturers, not the Girl Scouts.

It used to be that east of the Mississippi had one supplier, and west another. The east of the river supplier called them Samoas, the west Caramel Delights. This applied to local troops, so you’d have folks in one metro area having two different kinds of cookies.
