Up All Night
By Mitch Berg
It was sixteen years ago tonight Zam was born. He was two weeks late, covered in a bright scarlet rash from head to toe, and his forehead was pushed down over his eyes like a little puppy.
But he was sure adorable.
And underneath all of that awful teenageryness, he still kinda is.
Happy Birthday, Zam!

Happy Birthday to the boy I’ve not seen since he was about 3.
Lord time flies, my son is 14 in 3 months, which seems impossible since I’m still 25.

Happy Birthday Zam! Mitch – I haven’t read (or don’t remember) what origin of “Zam” is? Cool name – different ……
Penigma – I’m with ya’ – my oldest turns 14 May 12th and I clearly remember wondering how many more nights I would have to sleep 2 hours at at a time …….

Pen,
Heh. Yeah. Seems like a year or so since you told me y’all were expecting your first, in the elevator at that el-floppo company we worked at in ’96-ish.
E,
Zam is not his real name. I don’t use my kids’ real names in the blog. They didn’t sign up to be public figures.

“Honest, Gunnery Sergeant Hartman! He’s 18! And the diploma only looks forged!”

But enough about Colleen’s most recent blind date.

I can’t shake this feeling that Mitch allowed Chris Muir to name his kids.

Mitch allowed Chris Muir
They’re both nicknames they’ve had since they were kids. I don’t use their real names in public.

Mitch disclosed: “I don’t use their real names in public.”
“Angryclown, I am your father.”

It was not so long ago Peeve that Mitch and I were remembering Zam taking his first steps at one of those shared hobby occasions.
Happy Birthday Zam, I do remember you well as a baby. You and your older sib were adorable.
Try not to give your father tooooo hard a time during these teenage years.
Yeah, right, like THAT’s gonna happen.
