Duckspeak, Part CXXVIII

Death Panels don’t exist Death Panels always existed, citizen.  And They are a wonderful thing!

(Note to anyone who’s ever worked in health insurance: you know that Death Panels have existed for decades.  It’s called “Care Management”, and HMOs have been doing them since the seventies or eighties. And while the linked article relates to Canada, Obamacare is no different.  I present this mainly as an academic exercise, so you can see if your lefty friends start changing the spin they put out…)

  1. That can’t be! Glenn Kesler, the WaPo factchecker, gave Palin four pinocchios for using the term ‘death panels’: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/sarah-palin-death-panels-and-obamacare/2012/06/27/gJQAysUP7V_blog.html

The ‘fact check’ is a classic. “First of all, Palin is not quoting herself correctly.”
The inanity proceeds at breakneck pace, until we get to the point where Kesler is ready to tell you ‘death panels’ deserves four pinochios:

Palin is seizing on a completely different entity to justify her provocative use of the phrase “death panel” three years ago. But the IPAB in no way resembles the “death panel” that she claims would decide whether her parents or her baby with Down Syndrome are worthy of care. Instead, it is a tool—subject to oversight and approval by Congress—to try to rein in the soaring cost of Medicare.
