The Hollywood Version

According to at least a few crew members, “Captain Phillips” is to the Maersk Alabama saga what “Forrest Gump” was to traumatic brain injuries.

That certainly is an interesting perspective on one of President Obama’s early media successes; making that sniper shot all the way from D.C. However, there’s too much potential self-interest on both sides, at least for me, to give the story sufficient credibility. Like the spray of a skunk, “lawsuit” masks all but the hard, verifiable or already proven facts.
Once sanctified by Tom Hanks, though, Captain Phillips will probably find his face on a coin, or better yet, on Oprah. I dislike Hanks for many reasons, but perhaps the strongest reason is his unexplained appearance with the Pythons in “A Concert for George.” Looked like he had a good time though. Could be that my objectivity is obscured by that.
Hope the true story can be verified. Phillips’ alleged heroism was a good, positive story, so I’d hate to see it diminished unnecessarily.
