It Was Inevitable

“Scientists” warn us that Christmas lights can harm the planet:

CSIRO researchers said householders should know that each bulb turned on in the name of Christmas will increase emissions of greenhouse gases.Dr Glenn Platt, who leads research on energy demand, said Australia got 80 per cent of its electricity by burning coal which pumps harmful emissions into the atmosphere.

Er,yeah.  Let’s not forget that wrapping paper, festive meals, gleeful consumerism and, what the heck, flying reindeer all impact the environment.

I may just have to start an astroturf scientific group to tell scientists what they can do with that Festivus pole.

  1. Considering how cold this winter has been so far, maybe we should all keep our Christmas lights on until spring to moderate the cold air.

  2. All the crud that comes out of the smokestack of a coal-fired plant, from sulfur to mercury, & the one they want us to worry about it the same that comes out of our own mouth & harms nothing.

    Leftism really doesn’t make sense.

  3. Funny! I was just thinking about this as I was driving down East River Rd on my way to work today. Some of the houses, that just a few months ago had Obama signs out on the lawn, had their Christmas lights twinkling along the path of my dark morning commute. And I thought, hmmm, that’s not very green of them, is it?! Anyway, I am going to Target boutique after my half day to gleefully consume. Merry Christmas!
