This Time It’s For Trivia
By Mitch Berg
This was the band I always wanted to have when I was in high school or, even moreso, college:
I mean, not necessarily with Steve Van Zandt (AKA “Silvio Dante”) sucking up all the oxygen – but a horn-based Stax/Volt knockoff kind of thing.
Oh, don’t mind me. I’ve been having one of those weekends where every single earworm was an Asbury Jukes song. Which is far from all bad.
But here’s a a trivia question. Look at the guitar player in the pink shirt (Bobby Bandiera) with the white guitar. That very guitar appeared in a major motion picture (along with the rest of the band).
Any guesses?

Had to Bing it so I won’t reply.
Is the guitar a Kramer Striker? I suppose it’s era-appropriate.
I have their original vinyl which I now have to try and locate. Thanks for promoting groups that deserved a lot more attention than I gave them back when I knew it all. Didn’t know Van Zandt was with them either. Cool stuff …

I know the answer.
The star of this movie started out doing Burger King commercials in the 80’s, then was nominated for an Academy Award in the 90’s.

Joe,
At this point, Van Zandt wasn’t a member; he was just sitting in. He was actually a member of the band before 1975.

So, what is the official answer? The one I found didn’t seem to fit in to the “major” catagory.

“Adventures in Babysitting”. The Jukes were the band in the frat party scene.

Thanks. That’s the one I found on Bing.
I guess it could have been worse, Benji the dog or similar …
Please keep the trivia coming when you find the time. Quite enlightening …
