I Know It Was A Rhetorical Question
By Mitch Berg
There were ten dead and 55 wounded in gun-free Chicago over the weekend.
The carnage impelled one Chicagoan to wonder (with emphasis added by me):
“It’s crazy,” said Rashauda Tolbert, a niece of [one of the weekend’s victims]. “Kids can’t play outside. People can’t sit on their porches.
“The shooting has been going on for days,” said Tolbert, who she was on her way to her security job when she heard about what happened and rushed back to her family. “Why we gotta be prisoners in our homes?”
It’s simple, Ms. Tolbert. Because you live in a city where the government fears the law-abiding citizen more than the gang-bangers that are destroying your neighborhood.

She also lives in a city where the wants and needs of public employee unionthugs trumps kids stuck in the crumbling public schools. A place where a kid that can’t read earns $1000 a day peddling dope, where payoffs to coppers are status quo, where aldermen ride in chauffer driven limos through neighborhoods that make Mogadishu look nice, where fathers are encouraged to abandon their kids, and to make as many kids as they can.
She lives in a city where personal responsibility is a completely unknown concept…she lives in a Democrat controlled cess pool.

Swiftee, aren’t you being a little hard on cesspools?

Read a story this past spring that related why youths at some Chicago high schools walk down the middle of a busy 4-lane street to/from school: easier to dodge cars (and use them for cover) than to dodge bullets when you are walking on the sidewalk and some banger decides to open fire on whatever. As bangers aren’t prone to practicing on targets, the safest person when a banger starts shooting is the intended shootee.
Saw this elsewhere this morning… Is it time to fence/wall off Chicago, Detroit other Democrat party dominated ‘cesspools’ and hang signs noting that these are the “Museum of ‘Progressive’ Good Intentions”? We’ve already got Detroit dominating the ‘Ruins Porn’ tourism industry. Cairo is rioting after losing so much share to MoTown.

Swiftee, there’s a Chicago Way plan to deal with the funding issues of the schools and city in general: they’re dumping their pension health plans and putting retirees on Obamacare. It’s a great way to shift the expense from Chicago taxpayers to you.

When I was a kid, my entire family were rock solid Democrats. Grams was the clerk for the Cook County Board of Supes for 30 years. Ruby Ryan came to our house for dinner.
Sometime after I left, every one of my uncles started voting Republican. Then I learned that all of my cousins were as conservative as I am. Then they all, with the exception of one cousin who works for the Chicago Fire Dept, moved out of the city.
When Danny retires, he’ll move, and for the first time since 1816 there will be no Swifts in Chicago.

Seflores, long about 1982 or so, Kurt Russell starred in a movie that relates exceptionally well to the statement you quoted:
“Is it time to fence/wall off Chicago, Detroit other Democrat party dominated ‘cesspools’ and hang signs noting that these are the “Museum of ‘Progressive’ Good Intentions”?”
I wonder if they had any idea just how prescient their movie would end up being…
