Bush’s Fault, 2013
By Mitch Berg
It’s a Doakes twofer today:
The Left was aching for the Boston Bombers to be White Males so they could lecture us that whole thing was Our Fault; but Chechnyan Muslims don’t quite fit the bill for that. Can’t blame Islamic terror, that was supposed to have ended when Barak The Slayer single-handedly killed Wicked Osama Bin Laden and then respectfully threw his body into the ocean, in accordance with newly discovered traditions of that desert religion.
But wait – the two boys didn’t act without reason. They were forced to blow up the Boston Marathon, they had no other way exercise their First Amendment Right to protest The War in Iraq and Afghanistan.
They’re not terrorists, they’re Code Pinkers!
And who started the war in Iraq, with his yellow cake lie, cowboy ways and headlong rush to war?
OMG, the Boston Marathon bombing really IS Bush’s fault!
Like Anthropogenic Global Warming – it’s a thesis that can never be found false, since all evidence that proves it false is teased into proving it.

Sitting here in Beto’s eating an excellent empanada, a quick poll of my companions says the consensus in San Antonio is “Obama can go straight to hell”.
They don’t think it was Bush’s fault.

In fairness, it’s hard to say it’s President Obama’s fault either. The “blame,” once the culpability of the two terrorist-murders is acknowleged, is on the heads of those who seek unrestricted immigration with little or no investigation into negative factors (like the potential for violence) before allowing them into our country (and our pockets).
President Obama can certainly be blamed for whitewashing or downplaying these events once they do occur though; “workplace violence,” “our rich Muslim connection,” etc. However, all who voted-down voter ID, Pawlenty’s DL visa expiration date plan, or supported the “Dream Act,” and the other benign-sounding pro-illegal imigrant support plans should also be held accountable, even though the group could include GOP-ers like “Maverick” McCain, President Reagan, wishy-washy RINOs, and allegedly conservative media members.
Anyone who is afraid to say, “we have all the people we can handle right now” or ask the questions, “what are we doing this? why do we feel obligated to allow this? what are our other options in dealing with the issue?” are also complicit.
That’s not to say it’s not interesting watching President Obama and his pals trying to glean something advantageous out of the whole mess, though … I mean, hey, they were White after all, and they did use a gun … anyone for some lemonade?

Mr. Bush expanded the power of the presidency by deciding he could do what the constitution and law did not give him the authority to do.
Immigration reform is basically about two problems. One is how to give some kind of legal status to undocumented foreigners currently living in America. The other is how to smooth the restrictive visa system that currently prevents American businesses from hiring foreigners they’d like to recruit, as well as creating absurd travel complications for many Americans with non-citizen spouses and relatives. In discussions of these problems, possible terrorism by legal American residents born in Dagestan is not usually considered a major factor. Immigration foes will have to stretch pretty hard to try to turn the Boston bombings into an argument against immigration reform. But that doesn’t mean they won’t try.
