The Exposed Id Of The Modern Left, Part MMMCCXIV
By Mitch Berg
Salon writer David Sirota tweets:
Bizarre to hear rightwingers who constantly berate/insult Massachusetts suddenly pretend they care about people in Boston.
— David Sirota (@davidsirota) April 18, 2013
To this “elite” lefty, disagreeing with a government and its politics must translate to hating the people. By his “logic” – heh – I, a conservative living in Minnesota, must hate myself. He went on to say:
The miraculous efforts of Boston first responders should remind us of the liberal value of taxes & public services: salon.com/2013/04/19/how…
— David Sirota (@davidsirota) April 19, 2013
That’s right – cops and firemen and paramedics are the same as socialized medicine and institutionalized welfare and quantitative easing and…
Most conservatives believe first responders are a legitimate role of government. We would just like to have the right amount of government, not too much.
Which isn’t “hate’.
I don’t think.

Honestly and respectfully this is my least favorite kind of post. You can almost hear the left or the right? When you hear them, let us know. Otherwise, skip it. After you reinforce the right’s stereotypes of the left and the left’s of the right seems like a silly basis from which to call for introspection, calm and forgiveness.
I suspect you’re in on it.

Mitch, you mentioned irony in a previous post. Seems that those who look at themselves in a mirror (ala Stuart Smalley) and affirm to themselves “I am the most tolerant, open-minded and loving person in the world”, in fact turn out to be very intolerant, closed-minded and hold nothing but contempt for those that happen to hold a different view.

This is David “Let’s Hope the Bomber is a White Guy” Sirotka.
I’ll project some thought balloons for this morning:
Most Americans: “Damn Chechens!”
Sirotka and Napolitano: “Damn. Chechens!”

It’s the left’s favorite strawman (it’s not really an argument): we in the center and on the right don’t want ANY government.
Can’t win the debate? Lie!!
Dennis Prager says that the only thing the American left has been truly successful at is demonizing the right.

Emery, this isn’t my blog, and since conservatives value private property Mitch may choose to remind me I have no standing to remind you that if you don’t like the content here, you are free to stick your snark where AssClown’s head resides and trot yourself over to any lefty echo chamber you choose.

Last month, Minnesota State Moorhead paid several thousand of the taxpayers dollars to bring domestic terrorist Billy Ayres to their campus.
Therefore Minnesota State Moorhead supports the Boston terrorists.

Conservatives are anarchists! And totalitarians!

/”[Emery, this isn’t my blog]…/
It’s so rare to see you stitch together a few words that could be considered factual.
I noticed that your one time blog Pair O` Dice has gone dark and withered on the vine like a Roma tomato that was left unpicked. What’s that about?

“The miraculous efforts of Boston first responders should remind us of the liberal value of taxes & public services”
Considering the effort and time it took 1000’s of highly trained, highly paid, incredibly well equipped public employees to run down a 19 year old kook, a lot of adjectives come to mind; “miraculous” is not, however, one of them.
April 20th, 2013 at 6:42 am
And that’s your best respond to my query about your former toilet bowl of a blog Pair o` Dice?
I detect the faint smell of a “swiftee fart”. Which is no doubt a result of your ass-less chaps. It’s a bit like a cushion-creeper. Detecting the strength of a real fart is easy. If the perpetrator is offended it’s bad, if dogs leave the room it’s very bad, and if children start crying then there is danger about. But farts resulting from pure bullshit are difficult to measure.

Every once in a while Obama says something so bizarre, so obviously mendacious or fraudulent, that I am convinced that the only reason the press doesn’t mock him is because the press can no longer tell when Obama is being mendacious or fraudulent.
Here’s Obama’s statement last night:
Whatever they thought they could ultimately achieve, they’ve already failed. They failed because the people of Boston refused to be intimidated. They failed because, as Americans, we refused to be terrorized.

What can be said with greater confidence is that there will be more such attacks from disaffected individuals: identifying them and stopping them before they strike is almost impossible without maintaining levels of security that would be intolerable in a free society. The best hope is that society is resilient in the face of such threats and that eventually such acts simply go out of fashion.

“Failed” ? Hardly. They were successful beyond their wildest hopes. Look at what they accomplished beyond their killing and maiming. Locked down a major metropolis, cancelled transportation, schools, and professional athletic events, generated how many on-air hours of discussion and interrupted TV and radio programming, and on and on …
And now they seem to be making us circumvent our constitution by our publicly declaring that Miranda may be excluded. Please understand that I think Miranda is an abomination to justice and common sense (but the result of shoddy and intimidating police work) . However, it has been deemed an important procedure and has been upheld as just. OK. Can’t win them all. However, it is now the law and should be followed until voided.
I understand the public safety angle when used properly. I don’t see it here. I am far from liberal and would like to see Miranda thrown out on legal grounds. It should not be intentionally ignored. Score another point for the terrorists; we can now break our old sacredly-held rules when we think they’ll hurt us.
I believe the Doobie Brothers said it best; “What were once vices are now habits”.
Os, what’s the next constitutional “exception” to be enacted?
I must disagree with Swiftee:
“Considering the effort and time it took 1000′s of highly trained, highly paid, incredibly well equipped public employees to run down a 19 year old kook …”
As I heard the story, the 19 YOA kook was “run down” by the homeowner who went into his backyard after receiving permission to go outside. Only then could “the full force” of the law apprehend him.
All in all, not a bad day for the forces of evil …
