The Marathon Bombing

By Mitch Berg

As this is written, news reports indicate two bomb blasts along the route of the Boston Marathon have put over 100 in the hospital.

A suspect – reportedly a 20-year-old Saudi national – has reportedly been detained. Reports say the FBI and DHS are checking him for ties to pro-life, Second Amendment or tax protest groups.

UPDATE: The “Saudi national” story came from CBS, and may have been wrong.  We’ll see.

NYT says its the fault of Senate Republicans

NBC news says its right wing terrorism connected to Waco TX

Wolf Blitzer thinks it has something to do with Patriots Day

and CNN asserts that right wing extremists could be responsible

and to think Dear Leader bowed to the king of Saudia Arabia

  2. Scott Hughes Says:

Susan Rice will surely be all over the networks claiming some obscure YouTube video was the root cause of the attacks.

  3. Terry Says:

Doesn’t fit the MO of right wing, anti-government extremism.
Does fit the MO of Islamic extremists (multiple explosions, random targets rather than government targets)..
Who knows? Maybe it’s a just a crazy person.
But you’d think that, after the many, many times they’ve embarrassed themselves in the past, they’d shut their yaps until they knew something. And run those press releases from the SLPC through the shredder, unread.
But then we are talking about people who seriously entertain the notion that JFK was killed by a right-wing cabal, rather than the commie who actually shot him.

  4. Chuck Says:

Billy Ayres was just paid a large, but undisclosed sum, of cash to speak of Minnesota State Moorhead.

The connection? None. But I just wanted to bring up the our tax dollars were just used to pay a domestic terrorist to speak at a public college in Minnesota.

  5. Terry Says:

Why is it that these bourgeois lefty terrorists target working class people? There’s something psychotic going on there.

  6. kel Says:

“Why is it that these bourgeois lefty terrorists target working class people?”

because one of the consistent patterns of Marxism is that sooner or later they find the need to identify sub-populations among their citizens(subjects) as disposable and then eventually it becomes efficacious to set about disposing of them. It is an extension of Lenin’s cynical reliance upon “useful idiots”.

  7. angryclown Says:

Hold on there, Cheney. A little early to be scraping the bottom of the barrel to throw suspicion off the right-wing loonies, don’t you think? Heck, just because it’s tax day and Patriots Day, doesn’t mean one of you teabag nuts is responsible.

    Um, anybody seen Swiftee recently?

  8. Terry Says:

Pay no attention to Angry clown. He believed the SPLC and its media arms, MSNBC and NPR, when they said that the TX prosecutor & his wife were killed by white supremacists.

  9. angryclown Says:

Angryclown can see where you’d take that personally, Terry.

“Why is everybody always picking on white supremacists?”

  10. Terry Says:

“Why is everybody always picking on white supremacists?”
    Because CAIR won’t defend them?

  11. Mitch Berg Says:

    AC,

    I suspect a Yankees fan.

  12. Terry Says:

Just for the record — You ever watch the TV show Justified? I think the Dewey Crowe character is a fair representative of the shadowy, powerful ‘white supremacist’ movement.

  13. Emery Says:

I’m sure Geraldo Rivera will sort this mess out.

  14. davethul Says:

Just waiting for some conspiracy theorist to tell us that all the runners who were Jews were warned not to run today.

  15. Terry Says:

Obama has dispatched Seal Team Six to take out the enemies of all patriotic Americans, Wayne LaPierre and Sarah Palin.

  16. Terry Says:

Chris Matthews thinks the date of April 15th is significant because it’s Patriots Day (which conservatives love!) and tax day (which conservatives hate!). Give that man a Pulitzer!

  17. Emery Says:

The bombs were planted by the U.S. government, or by Mossad agents, or by conspiracy theory bogeyman the Illuminati! To drive up the price of gold and silver! To justify new gun control laws! Or war in Syria! Or Iran! Or North Korea! Or, based on the timing (today being Tax Day and Massachusetts “Patriot’s Day,” commemorating the battles of Lexington and Concord in the Revolutionary War), to crack down on right-wing and libertarian groups!

There’s very little known about the explosions so far, and it may be days before they can be positively attributed to a person or organization. But this is an early indication of the type of controversy that will persist long after the truth has come out.

  18. angryclown Says:

The fact that morons will be morons, Emery, does not equal “controversy.” Grownups are doing their jobs to save the victims and determine the cause of the bombings.

  19. bosshoss429 Says:

Yea, ac, the same grown ups that are speculating as to whom the perpetrators are, on the favorite propaganda spewing networks of you left wing commies!

  20. Emery Says:

    AC:
Tell that to the folks who continue to search for the “grassy knoll gunman” from the JFK assassination. (hat-tip to Terry)

Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, faux-news site, Info Wars, has already posted a story about how the blasts coincided with an FBI training exercise — one that actually includes this paragraph:

// “Keep in mind I am in no way blaming the FBI for this. Most men and women who work with the FBI are upstanding citizens who would be appalled at such acts. But it is theoretically possible that one of the FBI’s many “terror plots” went too far and turned into a live bomb instead of a dud followed by an arrest for “domestic terrorism.”…. Be wary of who ultimately gets blamed for this, especially if it’s a veteran or patriot. //

Your comment amounts to “nothing to report”. Perhaps you ought to have waited until tomorrow, or even the next day.

  21. angryclown Says:

Yes, Emery, those people are morons. Try not to be one. Your presence among the Mitchketeers does not bode well on that score, however.

  22. Emery Says:

By golly, you do have a little Swiftee in you don’t you? And here I thought Swiftee was SiTD’s only TMZ correspondent in the field.

  23. Terry Says:

“and determine the cause of the bombings”
Why the passive voice, AC? Bombing is a transitive verb.

  24. swiftee Says:

“morons will be morons” I see Mr. AssClown consoling a distraught Mrs. AssClown the day it became undeniable this was not “just a phase” that Jr. “would grow out of”.

  25. swiftee Says:

Personally, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the charred remains of a ‘shine box with the AssClown & Son logo on it turn up in Boston.

  26. swiftee Says:

Emery, I once heard a rumor that an agency of the US government, with the knowledge and approval of top administrators, supplied Mexican drug cartels with fully functional “assault weapons”. According to the story, several people, including a US Border patrol agent, were later gunned down using them.

    Teh Crazee, it burnz!

  27. jpmn Says:

And Barney Frank takes this opportunity to bloviate against tax cuts.

    http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/barney-frank-no-tax-cut-would-have-helped-us-deal_717921.html

  28. Terry Says:

It’s the government’s job to figure out how much of your money they need. What do you think you are, a sovereign citizen?
The federal government spends massively, and taxes massively, and trust of the federal government is at a historic low. Get a clue, Barney.

  29. swiftee Says:

Don’t know if anyone else caught this but as these bombs were going off, Biden was said to be on a conference call discussing tactics to disarm American citizens…the irony cannot be overstated.

  30. bubbasan Says:

Hopefully this will remind us that it’s not just guns that can kill people.

Regarding the comment about leftist professors targeting the working class, probably true with the Weather Underground, but whoever the perp was here, they were likely to hurt mostly the white collar people who go into marathoning. There are some blue collar, but it’s a sport that comes out of offices for the most part.

Hopefully they find the perp(s) soon with enough evidence to send him (them) to Old Sparky.

  31. angryclown Says:

Yeah, Shiftee, if only those people had been armed, they could have returned fire at the bombs.

    Dumbass.

  32. angryclown Says:

Enema asked: “By golly, you do have a little Swiftee in you don’t you?”

The only ones who can be described as “having a little Swiftee” in them are the underage rent boys he picks up at the bus station.

  33. Troy Says:

    angryclown said:

“Yeah, Shiftee, if only those people had been armed, they could have returned fire at the bombs.”

Is pointing out that the current administration are obsessing over the wrong set of “ultra-mega-super-dangerous stuff” (law abiding citizens with guns) a little too high-brow for you, angryclown? I guess so.

  34. angryclown Says:

“Law abiding citizens with guns,” Trojan Man? Guessing you forgot about Nancy Lanza. And just about every rampage killer the day before they start hearing voices in their heads.

So this is the level of your game today? Angryclown has heard more cogent arguments from preschool girls.

  35. kel Says:

“Angryclown has heard more cogent arguments from preschool girls.”

Did the restraining order expire? I thought you were supposed to stay 1000 yards away from any preschools.

  36. Terry Says:

Angry Clown, I’ve had it with your thrice-cursed criminal acts. I am simmering with towering resentment towards you. My retaliatory action against you will start without any notice from now.

  37. angryclown Says:

A thousand jackals will slake their thirst with the blood of your dead if you make the attempt, infidel!

  38. kel Says:

    Kim Jong-Tiri?

  39. swiftee Says:

I really don’t know what has AssClown’s panties in a wad. Yesterday was the start of registration duty. His duly elected nannies have spread a huge skirt to shelter him, and his cowering young apprentice shine boy.

There is nothing to fear AssClown. It is all clear.

  40. Terry Says:

Angry Clown once told me that he knew that Cesar Romero was gay because he payed for Sal Mineo’s abortion.

  41. Emery Says:

I realize I’m out of the loop here. But out of curiosity, is this ‘Angry Clown’ the so-called dreaded-evil-maniacal professor that Swiftee lives in fear of?

  42. kinlaw Says:

Analclown comes round here whenever a lot of people die or are hurt in one incident to dance in their blood. He is a sick twisted f**k. I stopped reading his drool years ago.

  43. Terry Says:

I know, I shouldn’t have lashed out you, AC, with that Caesar Romero/Sal Mineo remark.
But see, I had this weird dream the other night. I was watching The Walking Dead TV show, and then I went to sleep and I dreamed that zombies were chasing me. Then when I looked behind me the zombies were Batman & Robin and all the super villains from the 60’s show. The special effects were awful, too. I mean you could tell it was just zombie makeup. The Joker was there, and the Riddler, all of them, except egghead for some reason. I thought that was weird because Vincent Price did the narration on that Michael Jackson/ Thriller video (one of my faves, BTW).
What do you think that it means, Angry Clown?

  44. angryclown Says:

Angryclown thinks it means you are attracted to small boys, Terry.

  45. Terry Says:

    Angry Clown wrote:
Angryclown thinks it means you are attracted to small boys, Terry.

Is that why the Julie Newmar zombie kept trying to stab me with her pointy boobs?
I didn’t mention that part of the dream earlier because it seemed kind of yucky.

  46. Mr. D Says:

You cannot explain Angryclown. You can only experience Angryclown.

  47. angryclown Says:

    Well said, Mr. D.
