A Gap In The Language

By Mitch Berg

Now, this is one of those stories where there are really a couple of levels.

At the surface, this is a story about liberal hypocrisy; a Pennsylvania NAACP leader blames a rape victim for tempting a couple of football players into perfidy:

In shocking comments, the president of the Steubenville chapter of the NAACP places the blame for the rape case that has shocked the nation on the 16-year-old victim.

Royal Mayo, a lifelong resident of the Ohio city that gained national infamy following the rape of the girl by two Steubenville High School football players, says that attention should be focused on the role of the young woman, whom he calls the “alleged victim,” saying she was drunk and wanted to go out with one of the football players. He also claims that other teens involved in the incident were let off easy, because they were “well-connected.”

Yes, yes, I know – official for a liberal organization violates PC kashrut with great gusto, exposing the left’s deep-seated hypocrisies, yadda yadda.  An example of the left’s war on women.  Same as it ever was.

But I’m here to issue a challenge to conservatism’s assembled linguists, the movement’s neologic engineers.

These stories are with us always.  They are constant blog fodder, and have been ever since most people still thought “blog” was a sound associated with gas-station burritos.  And these stories almost always need to plod laboriously through explaining something along the lines of “if a Republican or conservative would have said this, the media and the left’s chanting-point-bots (ptr) would be howling for blood, but since it’s one of their own, they’re silent”.

We need to come up with a snappy, dismissive word or short phrase to wrap up that meaning.  If I were a lefty and this were twitter, I’d make it a hash tag with an acronym: “#IAROCWHSTTMATLCPBPTRWBHFBBSI1OTOTS”, but that’s almost worse than having to type out the explanation.

So set to it, real men of linguistic genius!  We need a single word or short phrase that goes Alinsky on this pattern, and does it with style!

At least he didn’t say she “rapes easily”. Then it would have been all over MSM. Okay. It wouldn’t have unless he was a Republican.

  3. Mr. D Says:

I think #Crickets pretty good. Alternatively,

#DAFFY (Democrats are Faultless Forever, y’all)
    #SUTE (Shut up, they explained)
#EmilyLitella [probably a little too old school at this point]
    #Squirrel

  4. Mr. D Says:

Er, make that “I think #Crickets is pretty good. Rented fingers….

    Winner

  6. bubbasan Says:

Schizophrenic, because the guy would be all over the perps if the victim had been black.

Necrophilia, because the victim was raped while passed out and had all the ability to entice or give consent of a dead body.

“Schizophrenic necrophilia” describes Mr. Mayo’s statements pretty well.

  7. SmithStCrx Says:

    #Crickets for ignoring the event.

#SUTE for “yeah, but they apologized so let it go” or similar.

#Squirrel for the distraction such as Rybak’s attack on Paulsen today or the “did you see Bachman eating a corndog photo?”

Think that’ll about cover the tactics.

You know, what troubles me, I want to get in here as kind of as a parent and I hate these kinds of stories because I saw these scenarios growing up, and I have a son and a daughter. And what I never hear – and this isn’t victim blaming, I don’t want to be accused of that, but I never hear the personal responsibility piece. Because, you know, she was out with friends who knew that she was – my quote fingers are up about these friends because they’re obviously whatever, but they weren’t friends enough to help her out. But she had a reputation for going out and getting ridiculously drunk. Number one, where are the parents? Why does your 16-year-old have a reputation for going out and getting drunk?

Where were the parents of the two football players who should’ve told them, you never sexually force yourself upon anybody ever, especially if they’re passed out? You know…

The other piece that is, the reason we don’t let children drink under age is because it requires more responsibility than perhaps they’re capable of. Certainly, she didn’t ask for this, she didn’t deserve this, but the reason you don’t drink – the reason we don’t allow our children out in the world to drink under age is because they can find themselves in these potentially dangerous situations. And when I saw this, I was – this is like a lot of hard lessons learned by everybody all around. And I’m sorry they had to learn these lessons like this but, you know, it’s awful. It’s hard. It’s not fair, but it is life. And it’s unfortunate.

    Shorter Emery: “She rapes easy”.

Mr. Berg makes a great point–our side needs more street-brawling scribblers.
How’s this? For Alinsky practitioners you can’t go wrong with,
    “Alinsky angels.” Or,
    “Alinsky amnesty.”

    The generic:

    “I’m ok, you’re illegal.”
“The connected,” “I’m connected,” or just,
    “Connected!”

How about “Forward!?” No, that one’s taken.

Acronyms: (I realize the biggest bang for the buck comes from the fewest letters)

    “DNW’s.” (Do no wrongs)
    “TDNW’s.” (They do no wrongs)
“ICACDNW’s.” (I care and can do no wrongs–a favorite of Oprah)
“ICACDNW’s.” (I’m connected and can do no wrongs–a favorite of Cosa Nostra)

    The regal:

    “Princelings.”

    Regal acronym:

“LDCDNW.” (Lady Di can do no wrong)

“DI” as in, “They have diplomatic immunity.”

“ROLIFP” (Rule of Law is for Peasants)

“Gunners” (To describe those who always bring guns to knife fights)

“Booters” (For those who know how to put the boot on the necks of their enemies)

“Swillers” (For those who hold beer gatherings to pretend to bring “folks together.”)

“Calf Ropers” (For those who “trade” cattle futures and become most-beloved)

“No Bells” (Describes mediocrities and killers who are elevated via phony awards)

“Pardonistas” (Covers lovers of Marxism who get pardoned at the end of terms)

“Abbotters” (Appeals to literary types and lovers of Norman Mailer)

    “KIK” (Kin is Kin)

And when all else fails, the acronym “BLMNHTSYS” (being liberal means never having to say your sorry)
