Obama’s Black List

By Mitch Berg

The Southern Poverty Law Center – which is sort of the intellectual NKVD of the hard left – is publicizing its “list of patriot groups” to be watched.

“Patriot” in scare quotes, by the way, is the SPLC’s shorthand for “hate”.

Here’s the list in Minnesota:

  • Alarm & Muster: The Modern Day Alarm Riders – Statewide: This is a national group.  Gotta say I don’t know much about ’em.
  • Constitution Party – Redwood Falls:  Huh.
  • Genesis Communication Network – Eagan: The broadcast home of libertarian on-air professor Jason Lewis as well as conspiracymongering huckster Alex Jones.
  • John Birch Society – Statewide: Question for you: outside of SPLC news releases, when was the last time you even heard of the John Birch society?  I used to say that if the JBS didn’t exist, the left would have to invent them – but at this point, it’s more like “keep them on life support”
  • Oath Keepers – Statewide:  The idea of getting law-enforcement agents and the military to pledge to uphold the Constitution even if asked not to is “hate”?
  • The Republic for the united States of America and The Republic for the united States of America — Republic Congress – Statewide: Huh.
  • Tenth Amendment Center – Statewide: I supposed limiting the power and scope of government, as the 10AC advocates, is a hate crime in the eyes of the SPLC.
  • We Are Change – Duluth: Fighting government abuse?  So hateful.
  • We the People – Shoreview: I’ll believe ’em when I see ’em.

Wonder what I need to do to get on their list?

Heck, maybe we all already are!

Hopefully Creepy Prof Emery will forward them all of the information his SwifteeStalking© has turned up. I love blacklists.

You’re on double-secret probation. Could be worth some money, though, for libel. I wonder how the SPLC would grade out on the “absence of malice” determination.

This list is also known as “We at the SPLC” are doing a fund raising effort this month, so need to come up with some boogymen to scare gullible donars with. Flying to those conferences in nice cities is expensive.

Geez! If I recall my history correctly, there was another guy that had a list like this about 75 years ago. He had a cheesy mustache, a bad comb, ranted and raved a lot, created false flag operations and blamed others for his country’s economic problems. He lived in Germany.

  5. Loren Says:

Boss, I think he lived in Austria, and he was a painter. House, not art.

  6. Joe Doakes Says:

Is there money in being on that hate list? Because if so, I’d be happy to start a few “grass-roots” organizations to cash in on that deal. Each would have one member – same as Heather Marten’s gun club – but mine would have catchier names. Can I get direct deposit?

Maybe all you need to be on the “hate list” is for SPLC members to hate you?

    Swiftee, I think you’re in. :^)

Seriously, I’m with NightWriter. Since it’s clear that their list is (a) not a list of antigovernment groups as claimed and (b) is intended to expose the groups to the scorn of the SPLC’s readers, I’m thinking that representatives ought to file a libel lawsuit against the SPLC. Since most groups do not, as does the SPLC, have easy access to the media, they don’t even need to prove malice.

    Man I’m pissed.

I am a combat vet, right wing, tea party, bitter clinger with guns in the house, and I didn’t make the list?

  9. Seflores Says:

To paraphrase Groucho, I’d never be a member of a hate group that would have me as a member.
My last contact with a Bircher was 25 years ago when some old guy was handing out screeds that were mimeographed in front of the student center at college. After sniffing the ditto fluid, most the kids threw them away (and this being college, that meant threw them on the ground for someone else to pick up).

  10. bosshoss429 Says:

Loren, he was Austrian by birth and probably started down his path of lunacy there, but when he started the Nazi party, he was in Germany. By the way, in my description, of the mad Austrian Corporal, it should have read “bad comb over.”

And, c’mon Seflores, fess up! You loved the smell of mimeograph fluid in the morning! It smelled like…homework!

Oh, but those embarrassing purple stains on your fingers and nostrils!

Southern Poverty Law Center. I guess that means they don’t care about northern poverty.

SPLC has apparently placed a group of singing nuns on their hate group list.

At first, I thought you were joking.

  16. swiftee Says:

I was a singing nun in a previous life.
