To help turn back the initiative to unionize home daycares (thus further constricting the supply of childcare in this state), contact the members of the House Early Childhood committee.

This isn’t just about daycare/childcare. This also impacts people who work as personal care attendants (PCAs). Many of these work for disabled clients who receive medical assistance, much of which comes from the state of Minnesota.
Once unionized, PCAs will receive more money and benefits. This additional cost will be passed on to the state because they also pay the PCAs wages.
So in addition to making the cottage industry of daycare far more expensive, complicated, and accessible, unionization will also cost the state of MN more in assistance to the disabled (who will not gain anything from this).
I would love to hear Governor Dayton’s rationale for encouraging the people he pays to unionize against him? If he feels they deserve more money (which is not an issue), why doesn’t he just give it to them?
