Bad News/Worse News

By Mitch Berg

The “good” news – Minneapolis misses the “distinction” of adding two more deaths to what is shaping up to be a horrible year.

The bad news – the double homicide happened in neighboring Brooklyn Park.

The bodies of a man and a woman were found in a car in the parking lot.

The victims had been shot multiple times.

Names of the victims have not been released and no one has been arrested.

Brooklyn Park is a schizophrenic place; the northern part is an idyllic ‘burb; the south, an expansion franchise for North Minneapolis’ crime quagmire.  A Hennepin County city, it “benefitted” from eight years of Amy Klobuchar’s worthless legacy as County Attorney.

This part kills me.

A woman there said she believed it was her son who had been shot because other young people were calling her about it.

“All we can do now is pray for my son,” said the woman, who was then directed by an officer to go up the block to Brooklyn Park police headquarters.

Yeah.  And everyone else in the area, as well.

Zane Avenue is terrible unless it is in the morning. The original blog is correct that this sort of trash comes out of Near North Minneapolis on the south side of “The Park”. At least the Crystal Airport breaks it up to some degree but down here around the 63rd and 81 area you can hear gunfire on any given night. I smoke cigs but I do it outside and that opens up a bit more hearing capability. BP is famous for fireworks but when you can hear the sharper crack of a pistol and the pistol slide return home, it is unmistakeable. That gunfire is some sort of representation of supposed power I guess. But this isn’t that Zane Ave corridor yet. And it isn’t that bad here yet, but it’s working in it.(depending on what you consider “bad”)
Brooklyn Park can not stand any more subsidized housing and what is here has to go if these murders and shoot-ups(Wendy’s of 81N and 73rd) are to subside. That alone will not fix the problems that exist here but Ventura had the right idea…clean up Zane Ave. That will take some hard decisions from our elected officials. Unfortunately, those decisions will not be made and in fact, there will likely be even more “affordable housing” offered here soon.
I’ve lived in many places and traveled across the globe but I have never seen another place like Brooklyn Park, MN.(south of 85th Ave) The place has some potential to be a great, diverse city but not if the filth of the world is encouraged to come here because BP’s residents(and all taxpaying MN and US residents) will help them pay for their rent while the filth deals drugs, pays no taxes, and drives brand new Hummers around!
This is the nicest possible way I can state the facts,

    Thank You
