1 and 2
By Mitch Berg
Caught the first two hours of 24 last night. I’m going to try to watch this season’s original broadcast (I was only able to watch sporadically during the first four seasons; enough to make me want to watch the whole thing, but not enough to get me caught up enough on each day’s plot to really enjoy it – as I did when I watched the first four seasons in five weeks. Of course, if I miss an episode, I’ll have to call it all off and wait for the DVD).
And I figure it’s time for me to put out either a pool or my first meme; the combination CTU Deadpool/24 plotpool.
The questions follow. My answers will be below the fold:
- Who will Morris – Chloe’s sleazy squeeze – end up working for?
- Who will be the mole(s) in CTU?
- Who will be the mole(s)/turncoat(s) in the
Chris RockWayne Palmer administration? - How many levels above Fayed will the real conspiracy lie?
- Which CTU members are going to buy it?
- The only job more dangerous than a red-shirt on Star Trek is a member of the tactical team on 24 – and the only job more dangerous than that is CTU/Los Angeles Leader. So what’s going to happen to Nadia?
- Bauer sort of raised the bar for taking out a perp in Episode 1 (I won’t spoil it). Where can he go from there, carnage-wise?
My answers below the fold.
- Who will Morris – Chloe’s sleazy squeeze – end up working for? Whomever the real conspirators are. See “4”, below.
- Who will be the mole(s) in CTU? I’m thinking Milo.
- Who will be the mole(s)/turncoat(s) in the
Chris RockWayne Palmer administration? I’m going to guess the National Security Advisor, Mrs. Buchanan. - How many levels above Fayed will the real conspiracy lie? There will be at least two cutoffs, that’ll lead CTU two levels above Fayed, and I’m guessing the path will run through Chechnya.
- Which CTU members are going to buy it? I dunno (see below), but I’d pay money to make it Milo.
- The only job more dangerous than a red-shirt on Star Trek is a member of the tactical team on 24 – and the only job more dangerous than that is CTU/Los Angeles Leader. So what’s going to happen to Nadia? I think that O’Riley Firewall or wtf Chloe was talking about last night is going to come back to bite her, and maybe take a few other CTU operators out with her.
- Bauer sort of raised the bar for taking out a perp in Episode 1 (I won’t spoil it). Where can he go from there, carnage-wise? I think it’ll involve a badger. And Diederich Bader.

Re #6: I actually think that most dangerous job at CTU is to be a security guard at CTU Los Angeles who coincidentally also wear . . . red shirts (although they look more like members of the Crimson Guard without the helmets than security officers from the Enterprise IMO).

“And Diederich Bader.”
Yeah, but is he gonna do two 24 chicks at once if he had a million dollars?

1) Yup, although I bet they’ll go the Nina Myers route and make him look good, then bad, then good, then bad again.
2.) My guess? Chloe – you just can’t have someone be around that long in 24 without getting iced/revealed as a traitor.
3.) Chris Rock? Try Montel Williams… Dennis Haysbert looked Presidential. This guy? Not so much… Anyway, they’re so setting up Peter MacNicol as the weasel that finally gets his in the end.
4.) I’m guessing the Chinese are really responsible. Wasn’t the bus bomber Chinese? Somehow getting rid of Bauer was part of the plot…
5.) Again, I’m going with Chloe.
6.) Then again, I like Nadia. Which means she’s toast.
7.) My guess is that Fayed gets the same treatment his brother did…
8.) I’m pretty sure Buchanan is a Cylon… wait, wrong show…

1) I hope that Morris (Maurice?) is a good guy. It would be nice for Chloe to have some happiness in her life.
2) Nadia would be my guess. Either her or Milo.
3) They sure are working to make the Peter MacNicol character look like it aren’t they. My guess is we have not been introduced to that character yet. Possibly tonight.
4) Darned good question. I don’t know.
5) Please let it be Milo – what a crud! Having said that it will probably NOT be Milo. Probably Morris/Maurice because they just can’t have Chloe be happy!
6) First I think we will have a good cat fight between her and Chloe then I think she will probably get into it with Jack. I suspect she will live out the season.
7) Big blowy uppy! (if you have kids you know the reference)
8) Watch what he does to Fayed (see above).

Anyway, they’re so setting up Peter MacNicol as the weasel that finally gets his in the end.
Yeah but since this is 24 it’s just as likely that the initial “weasel” character turns out to be a decent fellow in the end. That’s how they initially portrayed Tony Almeida, George Mason, Ryan Chappelle, Gael Ortega, Lynn McGill, and Karen Hayes.

Nah, he was an invitro.

1. Morris will turn out to be a loyal and decent guy who is actually working on the side of the angels. The reason their marriage broke apart is because Chloe is damn near impossible to live with.
2. Chloe O’Brien. Anyone who has seen “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” or reads comic books realizes that a good character turning evil is almost invariably preceded by a costume or hair color change.
3. His sister or her husband. Why? Because NONE of the Palmer brothers have had good luck with women or members of their own family. I was initially thinking it would be the brother-in-law because people who are initially as introduced as “nice guys” on 24 frequently turn out to be evil, but having him turn out to really be a decent guy and his wife turn out to be evil is just as plausible.
4. At least three. We know that Graham is scheduled to reappear as is former President Logan so their group will need to have the storyline resolved. The promo had Cheng Zhi say that “Mr. Bauer is no longer China’s enemy” which suggests that they will have some further involvement in Day 6. Which I take to mean that we’ll have at least one more level before we reach the real conspiracy.
5. Milo Pressman (because no one likes him, think “Nikki and Paulo” from Lost), possibly either Bill Buchanan (he’s been around too long) or Kate who may reappear but isn’t supposed to have a long storyline.
6. She beats the odds and survives. Unless we find out that she slept with Tony Almeida in which case she’s toast.
7. He puts his hand through someone’s belly, rips out their innards, and strangles them with their own intestines while screaming orders over his cell phone. Or he kills someone and brings them back to life so that he can kill them again.
