Obama’s best qualities…

By Johnny Roosh

Charisma.

Magnetism.

Youth.

Vigor.

Icon for Change.

Oratorical Skills.

Accomplishment.

…were all trumped last night. Every last one of them…only Sarah Palin actually possesses the last one.

Sarah Palin dashed the hopes of Obamanistas by standing in front of thousands as millions watched, and nailed it – never sounding artificial and never not being herself. She confidently delivered a masterful speech with a dash of Alaskan twang,  then pulled out the whoopin’ stick and gave Obammy a lickin’ only she could deliver.

…and he was stinging already as Romney, Huckabee and Giuliani had already softened him up for her.

And to the media…

“Here’s a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: I’m not going to Washington to seek their good opinion. I’m going to Washington to serve the people of this country.”

Despite her disdain for them, they gushed for her.

Afterwards, John McCain ambled onstage in a surprise early appearance, and wisely had little to add. Essentially saying “See?”

Obama’s camp responded with already well-worn talking points; a veritable knife in a gunfight.

“The speech that Gov. Palin gave []well delivered, but it was written by George Bush’s speechwriter and sounds exactly like the same divisive, partisan attacks we’ve heard from George Bush for the last eight years. If Gov. Palin and John McCain want to define ‘change’ as voting with George Bush 90 percent of the time, that’s their choice, but we don’t think the American people are ready to take a 10 percent chance on change,” said Bill Burton, Obama campaign spokesman.

And now they must scramble to adjust…again.

I’m shocked by the pure level of vitriol I heard from the Republicans last night. Quite frankly, I thought it was disgusting.

What do they have to be so angry about? They’re not being victimized by anyone but their own records.

    I’ll have whatever they’re smoking.

Divisive, partisan attacks from George Bush???

I wonder if they were seeing pink elephants walking on the ceiling when they penned that one.

“I’m shocked by the pure level of vitriol I heard from the Republicans last night.”

That was nothing compared to the level of vitriol I’ve seen from, well, people like you. And try not to clutch those pearls too tightly, hon. You may pull ’em clean off your neck.

By all means, keep pouring over pictures of Palin’s daughter looking for an engagement ring.

  4. Jeff Rosenberg Says:

That wasn’t me, big guy. Matter of fact, I’ve even made a pledge on my blog to refrain from posting any of these personal attacks.

Don’t give me that “people like you” garbage. Why bother commenting if you’re not going to legitimately respond to anything I’ve said.

Let me ask again: what exactly has happened to make the Republicans so nasty and hateful?

  5. LearnedFoot Says:

Oh, I love loaded questitions! Here’s another one:

When exactly did you lose all perspective?

  6. Mitch Berg Says:

what exactly has happened to make the Republicans so nasty and hateful?

    Nothing, and we’re not.

I posted a link to a study a while back that showed Republicans (conservatives, really) are happier, better-educated, generally satisfied with their lives.

As to Palin’s speech – OK, I give up. What was “nasty” and “hateful?” And if a conservative ordered a pizza in the woods and no Democrat was there to hear it, would it still be “nasty and hateful?”

  7. Jeff Rosenberg Says:

Palin’s speech, and Giuliani’s, were memorable for their tone more than their words. Palin’s mockery and lack of respect for her competitors really took me aback.

You won’t be surprised to know that I thought one of the most disrespectful lines was her implication that community organizers don’t do anything. It amazes me that Republicans have such a negative attitude toward people-powered politics.

And no… if a conservative ordered a pizza in the woods, it would probably be Pepperoni. Right? Do conservatives eat pepperoni? Or is that “elitist”?

  8. Badda Says:

    That would be Italian.

  9. Yossarian Says:

Mockery and lack of respect for one’s competitors really takes you aback?

That’s been my stock in trade for pretty much my entire life.

Now, where’s Peev? I want to laugh at his shrunken genitalia.

    Jeff Rosenberg said:

“It amazes me that Republicans have such a negative attitude toward people-powered politics”

Is that what “Community Organizers” do? Supply this facility of “people-powered politics”? Please. They are paid political activists sent out to “cultivate” the “grass roots” to suit an agenda, not a necessary position worthy of adulation.

I was totally turned off by everything other than the volume in hair and her pretty skin. I got twitchy over her lack of sincerity…her smarmy little smirk made me ill. “Mockery” is right – you can only be so confident as your accomplishments can support. She may be a better orator than any of the good old boys, R or D, but she’s an actress and grossly under-qualitified. Arrogance and an over-emphasis on her personal story (who gives a sh*t if you’re a hockey mom? Not anymore if you get the job! And is calling mothers of hockey players “pit-bulls” really a good thing? Why were they cheering?) gave me a headache. I wonder if her illegitimate grandbaby was impressed. Kick your 17 year old’s uterus once for yes, two for no. I suppose it’s no biggie to have a daughter who’s an unmarried pregnant teen when you have money and resources with which to care for her. Why worry about sex-ed when you’re wealthy, white and educated? Also, I hope her hot hubby is a stay-at-home dad. How the heck do you take this on with five kids, two under five years old and one with special needs? Did I mention the hotness of Mr. Palin? Yum-yum-dim-sum!

  12. Mitch Berg Says:

That was really Yossarian or Foot writing a parody of a bitter, angry lefty at a loss for anything substantial to say?

Because if so, it was great!

  13. Yossarian Says:

Sadly, I can’t take credit for that.

Just for fun though, try reading it with an “Andy Rooney” voice. It makes it that much more hilarious.

  14. Terry Says:

“You won’t be surprised to know that I thought one of the most disrespectful lines was her implication that community organizers don’t do anything.”

    Palin’s remarks re community organizers:
“I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a ‘community organizer,’ except that you have actual responsibilities”.

It isn’t that they don’t do anything, JeffRosenberg, it is that while politicians are accountable to the voters, community organizers (like Obama) are accountable to . . . who, exactly? A bureaucracy that bestows a grant with vague conditions and poor follow-up?

As opposed to laughing at Jeff’s missing ones?

    (sorry, couldn’t resist)
