Before You Do Anything Else…
By Mitch Berg
…drop what you’re doing at get out to Eagan.
As this is written, Col. Joe Repya will be starting his big sign giveaway in the parking lot at Stephano’s in Eagan – the corner of Highway 13 and Cliff Road – starting at noon, and going until 3 or until they run out, whichever comes first.

And the smart
I say that because they should run out fast – as in, possibly within the first hour or so.
What to do with them? From Colonel Joe Repya’s press release (I’ve added emphasis):
At noon on September 1, the anti-war crowd claims they’ll have upwards of 50,000 marching from the Minnesota Capitol Building to the Excel Energy Center where the Republican National Convention, at the Excel Energy Center in Saint Paul.
We are asking everyone who supports our men and women in uniform defending America in the War on Terror to line the streets from the Excel Center with our signs. It is our way of being “Minnesota Nice” and wishing these protesters a “nice day in Minnesota.” We encourage no discussion or verbal exchange with the demonstrators – only a pleasant “smile!
So show up! I’ll be heading up there in a few minutes. See you at noon-ish at Stephano’s!

This is definitely a more pithy slogan than the more accurate one:
“Let our soldiers be shot in a war that doesn’t fulfill any of our foreign policy objectives and helps to recruit terrorists.”

Jeff, buy a clue. You are woefully deficient.

It’s Baghdad Jeff!

“Doesn`t fufill any of our foreign policy objectives and helps to recruit terroists.” Jeff, let me puy it this way. I think instances like 9-11 and the U.S.S. Cole, among others, are what recruits terrorists, because they are perceived as victories by the terroists. I very much doubt that thousands of terrorists getting killed in Iraq is much of a recruitment poster. So, for the time being anyway, we`re safe here because they are there. That would fulfill any presidents`foreign policy objectives.

“doesn’t fulfill any of our foreign policy objectives”
Jeff, you need to make clear that when you use the word “our”, you’re talking about the American left. Winning a war instead of losing it is clearly one of my foreign policy objectives.

That was quite the pile-on.
MoN, winning is an objective ONCE YOU’RE IN A WAR! Starting the war in the first place was not helpful to us.
jimf, the Iraq war has spawned more terrorists than it ever could hope to kill, and many are following Zarqawi’s example and joining up with Al Qaeda. We’re safer because of the war in Afghanistan, but not because of the war in Iraq.
Mitch and Kermit, thanks for your useful contributions.

MoN, winning is an objective ONCE YOU’RE IN A WAR! Starting the war in the first place was not helpful to us.
Very debatable.
Again – the Administration listed four grounds for war; WMD, UN resolution violations (pertaining to thousands of acts of war over the no fly zones, as well as the inspectors), crimes against humanity and support for terrorism. All of them but the WMD were undeniable.
And while the left acts as if “oil” is a dispositive evil, the notion that Iraq could disrupt access to 3/4 of the world’s working oil reserves (20-odd on its own oil, much much more in Saudi Arabia and via the Straits of Hormuz); this disruption would greatly harm our own economy, and gut most of the third world. That ain’t chicken feed.
jimf, the Iraq war has spawned more terrorists than it ever could hope to kill, and many are following Zarqawi’s example and joining up with Al Qaeda.
And, in Iraq, dying.
We’re safer because of the war in Afghanistan, but not because of the war in Iraq.
Oddly, the war in Iraq seems (according to the likes of Michael Yon and Barry McCaffrey, neither of whom have ever been accused of being administration upsucks) to be winding down, and AQI seems to be pretty much over, while Afghanistan is giving us trouble.

Jeff, “winning is an objective ONCE YOU’RE IN A WAR! ”
Glad you agree with us. Now, go tell your lefty friends.

many are following Zarqawi’s example and joining up with Al Qaeda
And the Zarqman is morte! Dead! Yes many are following his example. May Allah recieve them as fast as U.S. soldiers can deliver them.
As for the Iraq war has spawned more terrorists than it ever could hope to kill my observation is this is utter bullshit, and a Tic talking point. Ever hear of Kashmir, Jeff? Indonesia? Shit, Columbia, for that matter? Just because you lefties finally noticed them doesn’t mean they weren’t there all along.

Say, Jeff?
May I take a moment to extend a hearty “fuck you” to you and your America hating friends?
Thanks.
