Commentary From The Transport-American Communities

A reader emails:

Driving home from [outstate] today. Going east by Monticello I saw a rig with a big picture of Obama on the rear of his trailer. Below it the caption read “Does this Ass make my Truck look Big?”

I just about lost control of the car with convulsive laughter.

I don’t suspect Obama and his gas prices and his “let’s import oil from Brazil!” policy are seeing a lot of traction among truck drivers.

  1. Had I seen that, I would have tried to at least buy that truck driver lunch for the entertainment value. But, based on that picture, he probably would have turned down the offer, because he wants to pay his own way!

  2. Here in Wisconsin I’ve regularly seen trucks with Hovde (the guy who ran to the right of Tommy Thompson but lost the the primary) and Walker signs. There must be something about truckers… Expecting new regulations designed to downsize this industry in 3…2…1…

  3. the new/recent Obama implemented regs and the Obama proposed regs on CDLs has not gone unnoticed by over the road truckers union and non-union alike. Pursuing their livelihood has become much more expensive and time consuming (in the non-billable hours sense) for the trucker and his customers. Not to mention the proposed requirement that everyone who operates “heavy equipment” (farm tractors, f-350s and the like) on a road, even just to get from one field to another, have a CDL.

  4. Gas prices and food prices are soaring. Yet they want us to believe that inflation is low. 69 days to go and we can give Barry his walking papers.
