Taking A Technical Header
By Mitch Berg
Note to self: When updating my WordPress theme, always check the actual blog before leaving for the office.
My header image – which I’ve run on this blog since 2003 – got eaten by the update. I didn’t notice it until I got to work, where I can’t actually blog (this update is being written from a smart phone, btw).
I’ll fix things – or maybe gin together a new banner, who knows? – later on today. Just in case anyone was wondering, I mean.

“Cranking open the nozzle of truth…”
You win the effing internet!

How about this for a header: “All the news that’s fit to print.”
The NY Times won’t mind. They haven’t used it for years.

or maybe gin together a new banner
I would leave the gin out of it.

I like the new header. And what Foot said.

Heh. Well, I switched back – but thanks.
A new(er) header is in the works, one of these days.

Maybe one without blurry pictures?

Terry, you mentioned gin. Now Penigma’s Chihuahua will be over here looking for it rather than doing her homework.

Terry, my apologies, Mitch mentioned gin first.

Sigh. Yeah, that too.
Routine software maintenance never goes unpunished.

It looks like it turned out OK, though. Was the upgrade process pretty clean?

For the first time, it was. WordPress must have cleaned things up; I’ve tried to run auto-upgrades before, even relatively simple ones, and it’s taken down the site and I’ve needed tech support or friends to help me get going again.
This time, other than the banner, it was smooth as glass.
