The More Things Change, The Dumber Nick Coleman Is

By Mitch Berg

Lord Nick tries his hand at geography and analogy in his drive-by on Rep. Kucinich’s (D-Land of Faeries and Unicorns) articles of impeachment:

On the same day that articles of impeachment against George W. Bush were referred to the House Judiciary Committee, a North Dakota sheriff reported that high winds had caused cows to “fly.”

Funny. I thought we’d see pigs.

There are two eternal constants here:

  1. It is always windy in North Dakota. This time of year, it blows from west to east.
  2. Except when Nick Coleman faces west and talks.

Back to Nick:

Bill Clinton was impeached in 1998 by a Republican Congress (led by horn dogs whose own peccadilloes soon came to light) for lying to a grand jury about his relationship with a White House intern.

(Koff).

(Koff koff koff koff).

(Koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff).

(Ah KOFF koff koff hack hack koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff (deep breath) koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff hack hack HACK koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff (Deeeeeep breath) koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff koff).

Whew.

(Koff koff).

Don’t know where that coughing attack came from. That was a bad one.

Ten years later, a Democratic Congress has failed to impeach George W. Bush for lying the country into a bloody and unnecessary war, undermining civil liberties and employing torture.

And ten later, Nick “I’m Not A DFL Monkey” Coleman still can’t tell the difference between a president getting jobbed and a president doing his job.

So much for change.

Indeed.

I’m done with this garbage.

Your eloquence is staggering Mitch. Do you disagree with Coleman’s point? Or is it, that like Kodiak on Babs Davis’ show, you claim Clinton was convicted of a crime – and so think Coleman is in error. I mean, you righties don’t make errors, so Coleman sure doesn’t have the ‘artistic license’ to phrase it as he chooses in his opinion column, now does he? Or maybe, it’s just that you forgot Bob Livingstone or Mark Foley or oh, say maybe you forgot the administration officials who frequented the DC Madame?

  2. penigma Says:

And Mitch, I think that was in fact the EXACT point, Clinton was getting jobbed – and Bush failed to do his. Exactly.

  3. nerdbert Says:

Yes, peeve, W’s job was to be clairvoyant and omniscient and overrule all the intelligence telling him that Iraq was a threat developing WMD. I suppose we should only elect god-like creatures to the Presidency. All Hail Obammed, he shall lead us to Xanadu!

  4. Mr. D Says:

Tell you what, Penigma/Peev/Hasslington/Elmer Fudd Gantry,

By all means, let’s impeach presidents every time a major decision they make goes wrong in any way, or does anything that in annoys Dennis Kucinich in any way. That approach should guarantee the success of the Obama administration.

And to be clear, Clinton didn’t get impeached because he was serviced by an intern. That may be disgusting, but it’s not an impeachable offense. Lying to investigators about what he did (and what he did to Paula Jones) is an impeachable offense. And that was why he got impeached.

  5. penigma Says:

Nerd – your claim that Bush needed to be clairvoyant would be fine, if it werent’ for the mountains of evidence which show they sifted through MUCH BETTER intelligence, ignored the opinions of experts, and relied upon HIGHLY dubious intelligence from Chalabi and ‘Curveball’ – to conconct a justification for war.

Outside of that, yeah, it would be requiring clairvoyance. Is that the kind of ‘schooling’ people seem to think you offer me?

My suggestion is that you go read “Hubris”, “Fiasco”, Scott McLellan’s book, read Colin Powell’s comments after leaving the administration, or just go read the Senate Intelligence committees findings. ALL of them point to the sculpted, dishonest way in which the adminsitration faked up, ginned up, and distored or ignored reality.

And Nerd, thanks for once again proving the anti-muslim bating tactics of the right “Obammed”, nice.. wow Mitch, you have some true ‘winners’ backing ya’ up..

    yikes.

    Peevish,

Your eloquence is staggering Mitch. Do you disagree with Coleman’s point?

Huh? I thought my post was a ringing endorsement.

Or is it, that like Kodiak on Babs Davis’ show, you claim Clinton was convicted of a crime – and so think Coleman is in error.

If you’ve been reading my blog, you know that I never have accused Nick Coleman of being in error.

I mean, you righties don’t make errors,

    Strawman.

so Coleman sure doesn’t have the ‘artistic license’ to phrase it as he chooses in his opinion column, now does he?

Strawman. Of course he does. And I have the right to criticize, reject and mock his “license”.

Or maybe, it’s just that you forgot Bob Livingstone or Mark Foley or oh, say maybe you forgot the administration officials who frequented the DC Madame?

    Non sequiturs.

    Yawn.

I hope that having your own blog, Peev/Penigna/Hasslington/Mikey/PB/Molly/JBaueer/Leftout, eventually improves your writing and reasoning chops.

    Fingers crossed!

  7. Badda Says:

    Impeach for Peace… 😆

Wait a minute, has anyone see Michael Rudolph and PB/Peevish Boy/Peevish/Peev/JBaueer/Mikey/Molly/Leftout/Penigma/Hasslington in the same room or blog together?

I might be on to something.

  8. melanie Says:

penigma, i think mitch’s coughing attack has something to do with the fact that nick coleman has a history of diddling the help. the story i’ve heard has it that he met and knocked up laura billings while he was still married to the first mrs. coleman.

  9. Terry Says:

Ten years later, a Democratic Congress has failed to impeach George W. Bush for lying the country into a bloody and unnecessary war, undermining civil liberties and employing torture.

According to article 1, section 8, of the constitution, only congress has the power to declare war.
Congress declared war on Iraq on Oct. 11, 2002.
If congress was complicit in a fraud of this magnitude, members who supported HJR 114 should resign. If they were stupid enough to get fooled into supporting HJR 114 by Bush they should resign.
In any case, if they did wrong thing then, how can they be trusted to do the right thing now?

  10. Terry Says:

thanks for once again proving the anti-muslim bating tactics of the right “Obammed”
So peev thinks Obama is a muslim?

  11. Badda Says:

    melanie:
“the story i’ve heard has it that he met and knocked up laura billings while he was still married to the first mrs. coleman.”

I don’t believe he was married at the time, but he still knocked up Billings.

  12. nerdbert Says:

Peeve, to say you’re an idiot is like saying the universe is big. Obammed leading us to paradise was not an anti-Muslim sling, it was a riff on his messianic following as an “enlightened being.” If you can’t keep track of the talking points of your own side, that’s your problem.

Let’s see, just what did that “report” that Congress made on being misled actually say? Oh yeah, that the intelligence available at the time substantially supported the administration’s positions. It’s not that there was no contradictory intelligence, just that the vast bulk of it did support the president’s thesis.

If we could impeach for stupidity peeve would be a dead duck.
