Open Invitation

From: Mitch Berg – unpaid hack

Re:  Interview

Mr. McClellan,

Since you’re on a big honking book tour anyway, I’d like to invite you on the Northern Alliance Radio Network one of these next weekends.

It seems you have some explaining to do, and it’d be nice to get you into a forum where you’d actually have to do that explaining.

Have your people call our people Ed or I.

That is all.

  1. Yeah, if you’re going to write a hate-Bush book, probably best not to have George Soros fund it and put it out on his label. Kind of loses credibility. Why not have Michael Moore make the movie version of it.

  2. Haha! Yeah, cause who’d believe the Shrub administration lied to get us into the Iraq War. Guess George Soros paid him to lie.

    And Mitch, “Ed or I”?

  3. Next, crazy Dan Rather will produce the documents to support McClellan’s assertions (remember when General McClellan stabbed Lincoln in the back in 1864?).

  4. Or Chuck,

Next they’ll claim that everything McClellan ever said is in doubt because he’s a liar.. oh, wait… that would mean that his comments as Press Secretary..

Seriously, Chuck, does McClellan supposedly lying – and let’s talk about WHAT he supposedly lied about, he supposedly is LYING about his personal opinion – which yesterday your fellow Liliputian said repesented no facts. So he is lying about his opinion of the attitude displayed by the President – I’m not entirely sure how you get to accuse someone of lying about an impression, unless you seriously think he doesn’t hold that impression?

Or maybe you think he’s lying about facts he witnessed – which then makes his book about FACTS rather than opinion. I’m curious, which is it?

Will McClellan’s comments then be used by you righties to say that ANY report of President Bush’s missteps are lies (as you did with Rather?). Do you get that you then perpetuate the very kind of denial that McClellan (and a host of others) have been talking about – some of them for more than four years?

Truth be told, McClellan, if he had real balls, would have spoken up while he was Press Secretary. But, true to neo-con form, he doesn’t, no that took folks like Powell or Clarke. Were they liars too, Chuck, Mitch? How about Monica Goodling, liar? Let’s recount some realities here. Dick Cheney and Karl Rove publicly denied involvement in the Wilson affiar, yet were involved. They told McClellan they weren’t invovled, but were..

Ok, so we have two admitted liars, and then McClellan, who was apparently deceived by them – as was – according to you righties, President Bush – who you say didn’t know what Rove and Cheney (and Libby) did – when you defend him for NOT KNOWING about the coverup. So is Scott McClellan smarter than George Bush, he saw through the deception they perpetrated, where Bush didn’t?

Here’s a comment I found pretty fun, though.

?McClellan said he isn’t accusing administration officials of “deliberate or conscious” lies to the American people, but instead of becoming so wrapped up in trying to shape the story to their advantage that they ignored facts that didn’t fit the views they were promoting.”

Substitte a great many Neo-cons for the word administration – and I think it’s an enormously telling and accurate sentiment. I don’t think most people normally seeks to lie – I just think they convince themselves of this unreality – or to use Rumsfeld (or Rove – I forgot) logic – you make your own reality… yeah… that’s it.

Like saying the Civil War is over – sure it is.

The only person who has some ‘splainin to do is the President, oh, and maybe Senator McCain for believing this President’s scripted, culled, and carefully manipulated propoganda. But then again, Hillary and most of the Democrats believed it too, so I suppose that’s not quite fair. My only recrimination against McCain would be, “When are you going to wake-up and smell the coffee?” Funny how McCain is distancing himself from the President – Mitch, a question, is McCain right to distance himself, or would he be more correct to do as you have done, and stay in lockstep even while one person after another confirms what’s been suspected for years?

  5. You post is too long to read. Can I get the Highland Park Volvo bumper sticker version of it?

  6. Dear Peev:

Your spelling sucks. Your sentence structure sucks. Your logic, if one could call it that, sucks. The fact you’re increasingly hunkering down and trying to make Mitch’s comment section your own playground for your narcissistic, grandiose, self-important preening, really fucking sucks. You’re a dumbass. A shithead. A nut-job. An idiot. A jackass. A comment troll. A thread hi-jacker. A fuck-stick. A living joke.

You know, I’ve been blogging now for over six years. I’ve participated in comment thread wars that have traded every conceivable insult you can possibly imagine. But, up until seeing your emergence and subsequent attempted takeover of Mitch’s comment box, I had never actually encountered a troll that I both despised and pitied. You truly are pathetic, Peev. You don’t just deserve a ban; you don’t deserve to have Internet access. You’re not mentally or emotionally equipped to deal with the online world. You take the Internet more seriously than any person ever thought possible.

    In conclusion: go away.

  7. Peev’s “subtle” confession:
“I don’t think most people normally seeks [sic] to lie – I just think they convince themselves of this unreality…”

We should congratulate Peev on being so honest about his un-honesty.

  8. Have your people call Ed or I.

Mitch, as an english major you shouldn’t be making rookie mistakes like this. Unless there is some obscure thirteenth century english rule for this barticular sentence structure, the correct wording is “Ed or me”.

I’m just upset that the clown beat me to it.

  9. But, up until seeing your emergence and subsequent attempted takeover of Mitch’s comment box,

    yossarian

I have to disagree with you – Peev HAS successfully taken over the comment section of this blog. He does in a word, OWN it. His goal is not to engage in reasonable debate, his goal is to skew the noise level of the Signal To Noise Ratio to a point where there is no discourse only noise. So people who read the comments section come back for a) the flame wars entertainment value, or b) they come to the blog but ignore the comment section, or c) they don’t come back. Peev is using a Psy-Ops propaganda technique I learned 20 years ago(difuse the enemy’s message= erode their secondary and tertiary support systems).

He isn’t going to go away because he see it as his goal eventually put Mitch out of business – he will always be back.

  10. I must ask, since i don’t think i have ever read more than 4 sentences of peev’s comments, why do you guys insist on feeding the troll?

  11. To be fair, Fulcrum, it is so fun… he gets so worked up (especially calling those not like him Liliputian) and insisting that he’s calm and rational.

    That’s hilarious!

  12. Well if he does own it, would it be asking to much for him to get an editor? I mean, just for the personal pride part.

  13. Buzz, you’re speaking of personal pride and Peev in the same breath.

I’m sure you see the error now. 😉

  14. “Unless there is some obscure thirteenth century english rule for this barticular sentence structure, the correct wording is “Ed or me”.”
Should be ‘myself’ since it’s a compound object.
I think in the 13th century ‘I’ was in common use as the objective case of the personal pronoun.

  15. Badda, well yeah, but if your going to own something that people see, its time to think about improving one’s self. Or getting an editor. You don’t want ancestors years from now reading this and thinking, “wow. even then the dementia was clear.” Right now trying to read him is like watching a Charlie Brown cartoon and focusing on what the teacher is saying. I try to read and all I get is Wha wha wah….wha wha.

  16. Either that or trying to understand Greedo or Jabba the Hut without subtitles.

    “Utta gutta, Peevo?”
