Pucker Up

I suppose it makes sense:

Democrats have chosen a blogger from each state to “participate” in the Democratic National Convention in Denver. And the winner from Minnesota is: Minnesota Monitor.

I suppose in its own  way it’s cheaper  than hiring a PR firm, while  being pretty much the same thing otherwise…

  1. Maye they could brand it. The George Soros Democratic National Convention. Got a nice ring to it.

  2. Right, you nazzicon neotuznties whein about Scaife sending the Minesosnsota Monnitor to Denver but you are silent about Darfur and every time you comaain about tghis you bpoint a finger and THERE’S one fingger pointinb at the Monnitor but FIVE fingers pointing back at you you ypocriteh.

    Typpical.

  3. I’m not sure, but I think it’s a parody of Peevish.

    And a rather broad one…

    (Shrugs)

  4. That parody rates a FAIL. Way too many misspelled words and too egregiously wrong. But the real problem is that it’s far far too short. No one’s going to believe that the real Peev would only use one paragraph in his opening rant.

  5. Oh, kel, it’s someone taking liberties with the Peev’s motives and style. It’s kind-of funny… but as with the genuine article, you only want small doses.

[The real Peev is reading this right now!]

This move might be just what the MiniMon needs… a target date for them to really ramp-up into some reliable blogging and legitimate journalism.

Then again, this might end up as a big crash and burn.

  6. Has anybody here ever checked the SiteMeter stats for MinMon? It’s kind of hilarious. On a good day, they average about 2k unique visitors, which is by no means terrible if you’re a blogger, but if you’re trying to pass yourself off as a legitimate news outlet, it’s kind of pathetic.

And that Molly woman writes like a 12-year old on Jolt Cola.

Yeah, that’s the part I don’t get. She’s a “serious” writer – she’s got a rap sheet among the local freebie boutique-zines – and she’s even written a thing or two that doesn’t suck.

But most of what she writes in the Monitor is articles about stuff she reads on aggregators or “The Consumerist”.

Nice work if you can get it, I suppose, but it seems an odd use of money, even if you are George Soros.

Along, I must add, with much that does.

Her big piece on the Center of the American Experiment’s tribute to Powerline on the occasion of Dan Rather’s last Evening News broadcast was almost surreally bizarre – sort of a checklist of ofay-lefty boutique stereotypes that bore very little relation to reality. I figured someone had to have told her “write a hatchet job”, but she insists that’s not the case.

    I don’t get it.

Well, yes – I do get it. It’s just odd.

  9. I’m just glad she’s going to be out of town for awhile.

Her writing makes my teeth hurt.
