In Re: The Matter of Governor Spitzer

Random musings on a sad, pathetic (so far) incident:

  • Edwards was right; there are Two Americas.  One of them allegedly goes to $5,000/hour call girls for illicit poot.
  • Allahpundit asks “Spitz is a Hillary superdelegate. Think she’ll be getting any awkward questions over this about high-profile politicians who cheat on their wives?”.  Um, Allah?  From whom
  • Five’ll get you ten that by November, the Sorosphere will have coined the phrase “Spitzering” as a substitute for “asking Democrats questions about unethical or illegal activities”.  Sort of like “Swiftboating”, but for crimes…
  • …unless, of course, he was seen smoking at the Emperor’s Club.
  • Elliot who?

Fearless prediction:  MoveOn will be demanding America “move on” before tonight’s network evening news.

  1. Mitch, it’ll be the media asking the Spitz about it. They love a sex scandal involving a politician more than just about anything. And since Spitz isn’t for the farther left guy who’s leading their polls, well, deer in the headlights have a better chance of getting away.

  2. If he resigns, he won’t end up facing a lot of questions. An ex-governor who hooked up with hookers is much less of a story than the present one.

    He’ll resign.

  3. $5000 an hour? Hey should try some of those Lake Street workers. Could save about $4950 an hour.

  4. He should try his wife… if that was the woman in the Yahoo! News photo. Nothing wrong with her, and he’d save $5000 an hour.

  5. I can’t expect you guys to get New York politics right. Spitzer was the Sheriff of Wall Street, way down in the polls after a couple of big political blunders just a year into his term. He’ll resign within 48 hours, most likely 24. New York’s new governor will be black and blind, like Ray Charles, only without any musical talent Angryclown is aware of.

    And Spitzer’s wife is hot.

  6. I can’t expect you guys to get New York politics right.

no actual statement about New York politics was made. But news of his rep did make it out to the provinces, indeed.

  7. I’m shocked. I agree with Clown on something. Spitzer’s wife is hot. Why spend money on take-out when you’ve got steak at home, which is something of a paraphrase of what Paul Newman said about why he didn’t cheat on Joanne Woodward.

Be fair to poor Eliot. He only spent a thousand dollars an hour on his girl. Five thousand per hour is what the top-flight “models” get. The base is a thousand per hour. He paid forty-three hundred for four hours. He might get an award from the Dems for getting more bang for the buck.

  8. National Review has a short thing on the Lt Gov. Seems like a decent fellow.

But $5,000 an hour? And the Democrats say Bush spends too much money. Really governor, that is not being very fiscally responsible. I order you to purchase some carbon offsets.

  9. mefolks, you seem to know a lot about these things. Just a tip…..don’t pay with a check. Those things can be traced.

  10. “He’ll resign within 48 hours, most likely 24.”

He’d have been smartest to announce it immediately, unless he’s saving it to cut a deal with the DA on the state troopers thing. We’ll see how that comes out. I doubt he can survive the twin blows. (brump-ba dum!)

  11. Chuck, I expected Clown to be the one to snot me off. The closest thing I’ve come to “paying for it” has been sliding dollars on the runway at the nudie bar.

  12. “Slackjawed” was how one ‘tic blogger described his reaction.

Yeah, slackjawed like Eliot while the hooker did her thang.

    And his ex IS hot.

I bet it was worth it. He was only governor of NY, after all.

His ex is rich. And her lawyers are or will be.

Was that three daughters to put through college, Eliot?

Can’t you just see ol’ Eliot, K-mart plastic bags on his feet and tied ’round his neck, washing car windows and caging change in Brooklyn. AC can elaborate. Closest I get to that is the Long Island Expressway.

    Ya kinda wish, now doncha?

Naw, justice like that don’t happen to Princeton/Haaaavard pieces of crap like Eliot.

    Unfortunately.

  13. AC, Elliot is a Democrat, Democrats do not resign, they have to be led out in handcuffs. Even that doesn’t prevent them from running and sometimes winning.

Take Michael Mcgee. Currently in prison awaiting trial for buying votes and conspiracy to murder. He won his primary race for Milwaukee Alderman.

  14. Yeah, the Republicans are big on resigning with dignity. Like Sens. Vitter and Craig.

  15. AC point taken about Craig and Vitter. However, they will be removed by the voters. My point is that even after scandals Democrats tend to get re-elected.

  16. After hearing AC and the tics explain Barney Frank we can then talk about the numbers of Republicans who have “significant others” running prostitution rings who are still in Congress. I’m certain Barney resigned with dignity. Didn’t he?

  17. I suppose it’s too obvious to point out that in this case the only difference between an intern and a hooker is $4300.

A little more difference than usual, but I’m fairly sure the hooker was better.

  18. For those of us who find Mrs. Spitzer hot, it is interesting to note that one of Tom Maguire’s readers at Just One Minute said that she looks like an older version of Jennifer Anniston. Now I know why she looked so familiar.
