Political Theatre?
By Mitch Berg
Lighting rarely strikes twice in the same place.
Six times?
There’s been a bit an epidemic of the temporary vapors at Obama rallies – people’ve been fainting dead away.
Six times.
Six campaign stops.
Six fainting incidents, within view of the stage.
Six very similar responses from Barack Obama.
Oh, see for yourself.

Yeah, I heard this on….Medvid I think. My reaction is that there is no way Obama would be so stupid as to stage events like this. It’s one thing for CLinton to visit several NFL training camps in 1996 and say at each one “When I was growing up in Arkansas, the xxxxx were my favorite team”. But I don’t know about having actors at your rallies.
But one the other hand, if it is set up, I have to admit, he’s good overall. He shouldn’t be President, he should work for a PR firm.

Oh, and in my family, people don’t faint. But they do have heart attacks. So when I see someone fall, I don’t give them water, I assume they are almost dead and maybe would perform CPR.

Andrew Sullivan claims to be a follower of Michael Oakeshotte. Unfortunately Sullivan ignores Oakeshotte’s first rule of politics: that is a human activity like any other — writing poetry or climbing mountains just to get to the top.
We cannot expect politics to transform society. It cannot be the means of surmounting our human failings.
If Obama wins the presidency this will become apparent very quickly, and the poor guy has nothing else to offer other than promises he cannot keep.

…maybe Obama should try chewing gum or swishing between stops?

You’re implying Barry is a powerful orator?

I think it’s recombinant DNA; somehow, the Obamamaniacs have picked up a gene from fainting goats.
