Broke no laws. Flirted virtually with members of the opposite sex while married.
Why did he resign? This seems to violate the principle that, barring conviction of a felony or whatever, the people of a district should choose their congressman.

  2. Seflores Says:

Stand by for server overload as Lefty pushes the new meme, that if Weiner had to resign, so must Vitter. Of course one lied to: the PTR media, his spouse and his constituents along with libeling the people reporting the story in the last three weeks. The other didn’t deny that he was a regular visitor of a brothel more than four years ago (at least pre-2007 when Larry Flynt’s bounty money caused citizens to inform on their fellow citizen), who has stood for and been re-elected by his constituents since the story broke and had a diaper fetish if you believe unnamed ‘street sources’ quoted by ThinkProgress, Alternet and Democratic Underground – not people familiar with case who on record deny the diaper fetish charge. But hey Dog Gone, roll over and ask the media attorney next to you why legitimate news organizations use the word “alledgedly” all around the diaper fetish charge – before you start slandering Vitter (again).

  3. The Big Stink Says:

If a Congressman resigns, Terry, isn’t it a matter of personal conscience? In the case of Anthony Weiner, that’s what I’m seeing.

Except, of course, the man appears to have misplaced his conscience. His pride and vanity appear to be his eventual downfall. He’s not the first political figure to fall prey to his own vices.

  4. swiftee Says:

Terry, it’s not sex, it’s lying. Surprised I have to tell you, of all people!

  5. Terry Says:

My God Swiftee, if we forced all the lying politicians to resign we’d have to become a republic and rule ourselves!
I’m serious — If the people of Noo Yawk want a loud-mouthed bullying perv to represent them, that’s fine by me. Everyone except Mad King Charles knew he was lying anyhow.

  6. Chuck Says:

Newspaper accounts say he is “liberal and ambitious”. They also say “leaving the only career he has ever known”.

That is exactly what is wrong with our gov’t. Power hunger control freaks who have never had a job outside of gov’t.

  7. jpmn Says:

This isn’t the first time Weiner libeled someone. He used his position as a Congressman and went after Goldline, a business with a triple A rating from the BBB for the sole reason that they advertised on a Television program he didn’t like.

  8. Chuck Says:

Honestly, I would not have had a problem with him staying. Then, every time he gets up to make a speach calling for massive gov’t, everyone watching will say, “yeah, this is the guy who sends weird perverted pictures to little girls”.

Not a John Stewart fan, but you have to see his bit where he and a lady actor (I forget her name) read the emails between Weinie and the Las Vegas lady.

Terry, given the present crop of Noo Yawk politicians, do the people of Noo Yawk have anyone who’s not a loud-mouthed perv to represent them?

“leaving the only career he has ever known”.

Yes, Weiner was a protege of another commie libturd career politician , Chucky Shumer.

“for the sole reason that they advertised on a Television program he didn’t like.”

It was Glen Beck’s show jpmn. Weiner attempted to imply that Beck was ripping off people by shilling for them. Of course, it went nowhere and Weiner was remorseless. Beck talked about it on his radio show a couple of days ago.

Don’t be so sure. At least one of the “women” that he was “following” was underage at the time. Given his past and current willingness to lie, I see no reason to trust him. Until someone goes through his phone records and examines the hard drive of his computer, Blackberry and other devices, we won’t know the extent of what laws he may have broken.

And frankly even if he does finally resign, this needs to be done anyway. Until at least 2008 (when Weiner claimed he started doing this) he sat on the House Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security. When the story broke, he was on the House Commerce and Energy Committee. He probably had access to all sorts of classified information which along with being the spouse of an advisor the Secretary of State made him a prime candidate for blackmail.

Frankly I don’t know why our elected leaders and law enforcement haven’t moved sooner on this guy once the story broke. Do they really want to be the ones who didn’t “connect the dots” until it was too late?

Newer Lefty meme responding to this (Weiner’s wiener). The new “Change the Subject, Your Side Does It To, Move On” is an attempt ( http://penigma.blogspot.com/2011/06/john-boehner-sex-scandal-will-he-resign.html ) to use rumors created from whole cloth by a lefty blogger ( http://washingtonexaminer.com/blogs/beltway-confidential/evidence-points-left-wing-activist-source-boehner-affair-rumor ) to insinuate that Speaker Boehner had sex with a woman (or two) who is (are) not his wife. The new credible source on Planet Lefty is the Nat’l Enquirer which reported the rumor in February and hasn’t said a thing about it since. Giving the rumor credibility in dimwit world… both women mentioned/slandered hung up on the Lefty blogger who claimed his press credentials as HuffPo, DailyKos and his own crackpot website when he called them.

  13. Scott Hughes Says:

Anyone else have a pension plan that pays like this after only 12 years on the job:

“At 46, Weiner will not be eligible for his pension for another decade, at which point he could begin drawing a reduced rate of $32,357 a year, according to the NTU. If he waits until age 62 to begin drawing his pension, he will receive his full benefits, or $46,224, according to the NTU’s calculations.”

    Scumbag!!

  14. jpmn Says:

Larry Flynt has offered Weiner a job. Wish I could say that was a joke.

  15. K-Rod Says:

Hey Weiner, Rangel and Frank say you are a pussy.
