Bush cleared of Dan Rather’s “false but accurate” charges

But hey, that’s just politics as usual; both sides do it all the time, right?

Really? Perhaps Dog Gone can do some of her famous fact checking and report on three major national Democrats whose careers were ruined by false charges brought by Republicans. Otherwise, it begins to look as if Democrats have established a pattern of bring false charges in order to deceive the voters and the only reason I can think for doing that is Democrats know that if voters have a reasonable choice, Democrats will lose. So they cheat.

I’m ready to be fact-checked.

It was a well-known part of the Clinton playbook; whenever attacked, go for the Three D’s – Deny, Delay, Destroy.

And since it’s always better to be on attack than on defense, it makes perfect sense to go straight to destroy first.

Republicans just don’t get that.

BTW, Joe – someone will chime in “what about the Swiftboaters!”.  Because to the left, “slander” is “telling the truth about a prominent Democrat”.

  1. I’ll fact check you Joe.

Palin was found to have an ethics violation:

Just because someone is cleared of charges does not mean that there was not sufficient grounds to pursue an investigation.

I notice you conspicuously leave off all of the stories here on SitD which promoted false accusations or allegations that later turned out to be disproven, a far longer list than you have provided. That would include the ludicrous claim by Mitch’s friend Rothman here just last week claiming I stole content for which I had permission, which I believe Mitch now regrets.

We haven’t heard anything from Mitch on his lying friends up in Crow Wing County for awhile now, for example.

Cherry picking Doakes; you overlook more instances of false accusations on your side. Swiftboaters Mitch appear to have been paid to make their statements, while far more individuals who were there in Viet Nam support Kerry. As do Republicans like McCain. Sleazy Republican gambit, not truthful.

I’m not surprised that the right are liars.

  2. We haven’t heard anything from Mitch on his lying friends up in Crow Wing County for awhile now, for example.

Because they’re not “liars”, and you should really update your pre-conceptions. Lots happening there.

  3. As do Republicans like McCain

McCain wasn’t in much of a position to verify Kerry’s whereabouts. And whatever McCain really believed about Kerry’s service, most actual pols will take the high road on these sorts of things and let others do the dirty work.

  4. I notice you conspicuously leave off

Now you’re just trying to piss me off, aren’t you?

  5. Chihuahua said “Just because someone is cleared of charges does not mean that there was not sufficient grounds to pursue an investigation.” And then brings up the Crow Wing story. Double standard exhibition in one comment. WINNER!

  6. Dog Gone Says: “Just because someone is cleared of charges does not mean that there was not sufficient grounds to pursue an investigation.”

You mean witch hunt! Go lay by your dish!!

  7. Seriously, Dog Gone, those are your examples?

Weeks before the election, a sitting Republican President was falsely accused of crimes by the anchorman of the largest news network in the country (and prominent Democrat fundraise), accusations the accuser later admitted were based on false documents. The entire thing was a Democrat-orchestrated lie that nearly cost the President the election.

Versus – your hurt feelings about your writing? In your mind, that’s a comparable example of a prominent national Democrat whose career was nearly ruined by Republican chicanery?

Your rebuttal is unpersuasive. Joe wins. Democrats are liars and cheats. QED
