For The New Season

By Mitch Berg

Huge news in the world of Northern Alliance Radio – we’re expanding again!

Starting Saturday, June 4,  Brad Carlson will join the Northern Alliance Radio Network, from 3-4PM on Saturdays following Ed and my show.

Brad’s been a guest, and guest-host, on the NARN for a couple of years now, and Ed and I are happy to welcome him to the NARN conspiracy.  Er, family.

AM1280 gains another good local show.  The local conservative media gains a solid voice (who can do double duty as a sportscaster).  And the Twin Cities media now have another nemesis.

And there juuuuuuuust might be more good news still to come, with a little luck.

Stay tuned!

  1. Mr. D Says:

Brad has always done a great job. He’ll be a great addition to the NARN.

  2. BradC Says:

Still need to come up with a show title. “Volume II” and “The Final Word” were used in previous installments of the NARN.

  3. K-Rod Says:

    “The Closer”

    “The Finisher”

    Congrats Brad!!!

    Go GOM!

  4. LearnedFoot Says:

    Brad to the Bone.

  5. Mr. D Says:

    The Closer.

  6. Dog Gone Says:

Someone had to step in to replace the disgraced Bradlee Dean, who seems to be escaping mention.

Guess Swiftee has nothing to say about the anti-Roman Catholic rants?

Mitch is conspicuously absent in speaking up for someone he spoke up for previously.

  7. Mitch Berg Says:

We may have a contest to name the new show.

Although Foot and D both set the bar very, very high.

  8. Rob Says:

…meanwhile, back in the real world…

I look forward to hearing the new show.

  9. Mitch Berg Says:

Mitch is conspicuously absent in speaking up for someone he spoke up for previously.

In similar news, Rachel Maddow has been “conspicuously absent” in speaking up for both Keith Olberman and Ed “Laura Ingraham’s A Slut” Schultz over their termination and suspension.

For that matter, DG has been “conspicuously absent” in speaking up for Olbie or Fast Eddie, too – not to mention her absence in questioning Maddow’s conspicuous silence.

    Connect the dots, people.

OK, a serious answer? DUH. I mean, seriously; I am employed by AM1280. Do you think I’m going to be commenting publicly about the station’s personnel and programming decisions?

On what planet would that make sense, much less be advisable?

  10. Mitch Berg Says:

someone he spoke up for previously.

Oh, and don’t think your yellow-ish insinuation escaped me, either.

I shared a station with Brad and Jake, and as such did what radio people do – I cross-promoted him. That doesn’t imply a general or specific endorsement; that’s just what you do when you do radio.

I do not endorse everything Brad Dean says, theologically or politically. I specifically abjure several things he’s said, including but not limited to his invocation at the House, and the statements that got his show whacked.

But I’ve also pointed out with absolute accuracy when some of his critics have lied about him. Hatred leads some people – Andy Birkey, Karl Bremer – to think that their ends justify their means. It is, indeed, a trait of the left, to think that nothing is beneath doing against ones’ enemies.

  11. Kermit Says:

I want to “speak up” for Dog Gone. She is a slapdash, ham fisted ideologue who chants Democrat talking points with tiresome, predictable consistency.
I suggest we start up a fund to buy her an imagination. She is in obvious need of one.

  12. Mr. D Says:

Guess Swiftee has nothing to say about the anti-Roman Catholic rants?

Lord knows Swiftee can speak for himself, but as a Catholic I’d say this — if I responded to every anti-Roman Catholic rant I heard, it would be a 24/7 job.

  13. BradC Says:

My full name is Bradley Dean Carlson, so Mitch suggested that the voice over guy say something like….

    …..and now, here’s Bradley Dean…………….Carlson

  14. Bill C Says:

Now that’s very funny, Brad. I wholeheartedly support that idea.

    (or in Facebook land…..)

  15. Speed Gibson Says:

Great news! No more RR or MPR or SOL between NARN and SJ when I’m out walking Saturday afternoons!

  16. Mitch Berg Says:

    Speed,

If all goes according to plan, you won’t be tuning into Sue until at least 5. More, hopefully, next week.

  17. Scott Hughes Says:

“If all goes according to plan, you won’t be tuning into Sue until at least 5. More, hopefully, next week.”

Oh boy a teaser, I can hardly wait!

  18. kel Says:

DG speaking of anti-catholic rants your distinctly anti-catholic postings back in nov on the pen blog are noteworthy both for their ignorance and inaccuracy ( council of trent = 1640s/ not)

  19. Kermit Says:

For ignorance and inaccuracy, Penigma is a one stop shop. You have to admire the seething, sublimated hatred simmering just below the surface. Once per year is my limit.

  20. Tim in StP Says:

    I am employed by AM1280.

Congratulations! So you’re getting paid now to do your show then? Or are you employed in some other function?

  21. Bill C Says:

IIRC, his “compensation” for doing his show, is the ability to use their broadcast facilities for free, as opposed to some of the other shows (like the gold and silver guy, the investment guy or the real estate show) who have to pay for use of the broadcast facilities.

  22. Kermit Says:

I have to wonder if Tim is paid to make semi-cogent comments that lower the mean IQ of the general population. If so, he deserves a raise.

  23. Terry Says:

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

  24. Tim in StP Says:

IIRC, his “compensation” for doing his show, is the ability to use their broadcast facilities for free

Ah, so in other words, MB is not an employee. Neither was Bradlee Dean, who actually paid AM1280 to be able to do his show; that makes him a client, not “personnel.”

Mitch, if what Bill C says is true then calling yourself an “employee” is not only misleading, it’s kind of a lie. I suspect you do so to lend your show more credibility; if a station pays you for your services (and what Bill C desribes is most certainly not compensation of any kind) one can assume that your services are desirable and marketable. If not, then what do you suppose that means?

  25. Terry Says:

No point, as usual, Troll in St. Paul.

  26. Ben Says:

Tim doesn’t understand economics, typical liberal.

  27. Kermit Says:

The mean IQ just dropped another five points. Anyone wonder if Thompson Building and Remodeling might actually send a few bucks Mitch’s way? Or to WWTC? Personally, I’m glad Tim is over in St. Paul. We full up on dumb asses this side of the river.

  28. Mitch Berg Says:

    “Tim”,

Ah, so in other words, MB is not an employee

I am. I’m not a paid employee, generally, but I am an employee. It’s Salem policy.

Neither was Bradlee Dean, who actually paid AM1280 to be able to do his show; that makes him a client, not “personnel.”

Not sure who ever said otherwise. Another figment of your thudding imagination, I presume.

Mitch, if what Bill C says is true then calling yourself an “employee” is not only misleading, it’s kind of a lie.

He’s correct, and it’s still not misleading. I’m not going to show you the paperwork or anything, but I am a station employee.

    I suspect you do so to lend your show more credibility;

That makes no sense in any way.

if a station pays you for your services (and what Bill C desribes is most certainly not compensation of any kind)

    Well, yes. It is.

one can assume that your services are desirable and marketable. If not, then what do you suppose that means?

It means I do a talk show, and you’re talking out your ass.

  29. Kermit Says:

Mitch attempting to pump the mean IQ back up after Tim’s assault on intelligence. I do like the “thudding imagination” reference. I can’t help but think that imagination isn’t the only thing being thudded in Tim’s St. Paul hideaway.

  30. kel Says:

DG on nov 28 2010 you said:

The church for example, at the Council of Trent in 1642, while establishing the foundation for that horror, the Spanish Inquisition, decreed that abortion, homosexuality, masturbation, and contraception were Mortal sins, sins punishable by death of the soul.  Fornication, adultery, INCEST AND RAPE were venial sins, sins for which the penalty was lesser.”

There are several factual errors in your comment that reveal an enormous ignorance of the Catholic Church you are attacking in that statement. Do you have the courage to FACT CHECK yourself and report accurately on your own hypocrisy? Do you have that kind of integrity? Or do you at least have enough integrity to not accuse others of what you so blatantly practice yourself? Come on girl show a little courage here and fess up.

  31. Terry Says:

    kel-
DG is immune not only to logic, but to common sense.
We are talking about someone who believes that the reason the MSM did not investigate John Edwards’ adultery back when he was a serious contender for the 2008 presidential nomination is because the reporters wanted to spare Elisabeth Edwards feelings.
    Honest.
