2016
By Mitch Berg
Although I am nowhere close to finished deciding who I want to see get the GOP nomination for ’08, I have a name on my short list for 2016. Michelle Malkin covers Bobby Jindal’s inauguration as Louisiana’s first non-white governor since Reconstruction:
The Daily Advertiser of Lafayette welcomes Jindal:
Today, Bobby Jindal becomes governor of Louisiana. He will face major challenges in his new position, particularly as he strives for adoption of his No. 1 goal – rewriting the state’s ethics code. Determined to make Louisiana ethics the “gold standard” for the nation, he will call a special session to deal only with ethics reform. If he fails, he will continue calling special sessions until the reform package is adopted.
We believe he can win the ethics reform battle and meet all his other challenges, which include hurricane recovery measures, health-care improvements, economic reform, improvements in education, successfully combating crime, increasing safety for Louisiana citizens and analyzing and monitoring state spending.
“Reforming Louisiana” would seem to be in a league with “Red Sox winning the Series” or “Reforming Jersey City”; impossible jobs that can be done (provided you get someone like a Curt Schilling or Brett Schundler or Bobby Jindal on the job. What do they have in common?)
Jindal has proved himself in the arena of government service. We first took notice of him in 1996, when he was appointed secretary of the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals. That put him in charge of 12,000 employees and a $4 billion budget – in his first government job. He inherited a $400 million budget deficit and, in a relatively short period of time, turned it into a $220 million budget surplus.
If there’s anyone on the “Jindal ’16” committee reading this blog, please drop me a line.

Those dang racist Republicans are up to their same old tricks.
January 15th, 2008 at 7:47 am
Obama jealousy. “See, we’re not racist. We can elect a non-white guy too!” Please. Get back to us when he’s accomplished something.
But at least we know who’s giving the Republican keynote address.

“See, we’re not racist.
Koff koff hillary goes after obie’s drug use koff koff.
Get back to us when he’s accomplished something.
He’s accomplished more before and during his time as governor than Hillary Clinton has in per public life.
we know who’s giving the Republican keynote address
And we know who’s gonna introduce Hillary at the conention – either Jackson or Sharpton!

Watch out, Jindal backs ethics reform. I know how much you value the First Amendment right of big companies to buy politicians.
At least the Democratic convention will have more than one black guy.
January 15th, 2008 at 10:47 am
” At least the Democratic convention will have more than one black guy. ”
That’s cuz the race hustlers who run the party have quotas.
January 15th, 2008 at 11:00 am
So do the Republicans. Thankfully Justice Thomas is married to a white lady, so they don’t have to tell her she’s not allowed.
January 15th, 2008 at 11:19 am
Some people think Democrats are a more racist political party than Republicans. I wonder why that is?
January 15th, 2008 at 11:22 am
Because they’re idiots?
January 15th, 2008 at 12:50 pm
Because they’re idiots?
no, ’cause they read AC comments!
to the point what difference does the race/color of Justice Thomas’ wife make? How does her race buttress your argument? Take your time, explain in detail.

I will decline, Kel, and refer you to the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:1-9) for the answer you seek.
When you are done reading, explain in detail how the parable relates to your manifest inability to profit from Angryclown’s wisdom. Take your time.
(Hint: “rocky place” = your brain.)

Clownie quotes Jesus to validate his specious accusations of racism. Wait, what’s that in your eye?
January 15th, 2008 at 3:33 pm
his specious accusations of racism
Well, to be fair, a lefty’s accusations of racism have the same weight as a Tourette’s sufferer’s claim that one is a “whore”, or a snorer’s snoring. It’s pretty much involuntary and autonomic.

Orthogonally, I’m on Hillary’s side on this latest spat over the MLK thing. She understates the importance of LBJ; he didn’t just sign the Civil Rights acts, but twisted arms to get it passed.
LBJ was, to put it gently, not an unflawed human being, but he’s more important to the removal of the blot that was segregation than anybody else, except maybe Thurgood Marshall (as head of the Ink Fund; his contribution as a Justice were far less important).
(I say that, by the way, as a great admirer of MLK; to see that LBJ was a keystone figure isn’t to diminish MLK’s role.)
January 15th, 2008 at 3:56 pm
Kermit misunderstood: “Clownie quotes Jesus to validate his specious accusations of racism.”
Actually, Angryclown’s point was that Kel is a retard.
January 15th, 2008 at 4:37 pm
Here’s hoping Jindal succeeds. That would be huge, and yes, it ought to pace the way for him to run for higher office.
January 15th, 2008 at 5:04 pm
Actually, Angryclown’s point was that Kel is a retard.
You are all class, good sir.
January 15th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
So it’s akin to Tourette’s? I was going to guess Asperger’s, but you may be on to something.
“bin Laden. Haven’t got bin Laden. Definately have to get bin Laden. bin Laden. Gotta get bin…”
January 15th, 2008 at 6:16 pm
angryclown is funny.
The only “seed” he seems to throw around are words like ‘racist’, ‘idiot’, and ‘retard’.
I mean, I could say “I learned angryclown likes to insult people”, but I knew that already. *shrug*
I suspect his bag is empty of seed, but I don’t want to know. That is a matter entirely between angryclown and beardedlady. 😉
January 15th, 2008 at 6:37 pm
“Beardedlady.” That’s pretty funny.
January 15th, 2008 at 7:46 pm
Obama jealousy. “See, we’re not racist. We can elect a non-white guy too!” Please. Get back to us when he’s accomplished something.
But at least we know who’s giving the Republican keynote address.
Hey clown, how many black cabinet members in the Clinton ‘Whites-only’ House?
Jindal may be the GOP’s Obama, but Obama is the Dem’s Obama. Guess who gave the key note address at the Democratic 2004 convention?
January 15th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
There are plenty of black Dems, Terry. Obama’s a Democratic star cause he’s a star. Jindal’s a Republican star cause he’s all you got.
If Clinton was so racist, how come blacks loved him and voted for him in droves? How come his office is on 125th Street? Why are African-American Democrats having such a hard time deciding between Hillary and the first-ever black candidate with a serious chance of becoming president?
You need to get off the race thing cause nobody’s buying what you’re selling, Terry – least of all African Americans.
January 15th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
I confess, using Jindal to court the black vote wouldn’t work . . . because he’s not black! Clown, all you see when you look at a human being is his or her skin color. Racist! Why don’t you own up to what you are and where a white sheet & hood when you’re panhandling on the streets of New York?
January 16th, 2008 at 6:23 am
Nope, Jindal is as close you can get. Second-best is a Congressman who got a really good tan in Palm Springs.
January 16th, 2008 at 11:28 am
Black people voted for Bill Clinton “in droves”, so Bill Clinton cannot be a racist.
Bill Clinton has an office on 125th Street, so Bill Clinton cannot be a racist.
“African-American Democrats” have difficulty deciding between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, so Hillary Clinton cannot be a racist.
This is logic? No.
Both Bill and Hillary could be racists despite these data points, though they are probably not. However, an all white cabinet might be interpreted by angryclown differently if the selector of that cabinet had a name other than Clinton. It might suggest to angryclown that a number of ugly and racist ideas were in the head of that President.
I laugh at the notion of angryclown being a “moderate”, especially when I hear him smear all Republicans as racists.
