This Messes Everything Up

By Mitch Berg

Now that I finally saw The Killing on AMC, I don’t think I can ever watch Law And Order or any other cop procedurals again…

No, I’m not being paid for the endorsement.   But it’d be cool if someone did.

AMC is putting out some of the best TV out there. I’m getting hooked on one series after another.

Cable in general. From the Wire, to Mad Men, to Walking Dead.

Law and Order? I’ll give you a clue on who the killer is. It is the white Christian businessman. Could be a veteran on some episodes.

I can’t recall ever watching an episode of Law and Order. I have little use for NBC in general.

I’ll confess I’m a big Law and Order (original) fan, replaced the old Perry Mason b&w. First season had the best scripts but oh … Angie Harmon … Carey Lowell, …

  5. Kermit Says:

OK, I just watched the first four episodes online. Pretty darn good.

    Speed,

I liked LandO too. You’re right – the Moriarty/Robinson/Dzunda-Sorvino/Noth seasons were the best, but I liked it a lot up through Waterson/Harmon/Orbach/Bratt era. After that? It got to be too much “The White Conservative Christian Did It”.

Kerm – one thing I love about it (besides the writing and the characters, which are pretty amazing) is the way Seattle’s weather is a character. the show feels damp. I want to change my socks after an episode. I have a hunch if there’s ever sunshine, it’ll freak me out.

  8. Kermit Says:

The complete dreariness of the place could explain why Seattle is such a liberal bastion. It would be like 12 months of Winter. There may be something here. I wonder if a correlation could be drawn? Red states = blue skies?

So who are you figuring the killer is?

Teacher? Politician? Pols GF? Fired Aide? Pols Opponent?

I am liking how a set of leads gets the cops certain the killer is person x only to have those actions explained and dash their theory.

The teacher has something to hide, the pol seems obvious, I am liking his GF for the killer. She is capable of nearly anything to advance her career. The whole in my theory is why have the evidence point back to the campaign. Which brings me to my next favorite suspect the opponent.

The Mayor would be too obvious. Unless he paid someone to do it. Since the victim was a campaign worker for the challenger, she would make a logical target.
