A Time For Tea

By Mitch Berg

The President wants to shave the edges off the ruinous debt by taxing us back to the stone age and turning us into a bigger Portugal.

The Governor wants to tax this state into prosperity, by determining that “the rich” are “anyone who still has money we can seize”.
And all of this after the people spoke last November and resoundingly demanded real hope and change.

It’s high time those who didn’t get the message last time, did.

Saturday is the Twin Cities Tea Party rally at the Capitol.  Check out the itinerary; it’ll be a lot more concise than last years’ Tax Day rally, and a great event.

I can be there for the first part. Any idea when Sue Jeffers speaks? Hopefully earlier in the program.

  3. Mitch Berg Says:

She’s pretty early, I think; we have two national-level speakers who’ll probably headline.

I’m not totally sure, of course; I’m the first one on the agenda, and then I’m outta there to get to the station!

The White Room with black curtains?

If he and his family would bring their trust fund money back from SD and pay the taxes on it, we could most likely balance the budget on those alone! Of course, I won’t hold my breath!

  6. Scott Hughes Says:

I don’t know boss, I’d like to say let them go live where their money is, but that’d surely PO our friends in SD.

The President wants to tax the rich and the Governor wants to tax the rich. If one succeeds, would the other back off “going to the well” again?

Also, I often see mention of the MN Tax Incidence Study. Is there a similar study at the federal level with a “tax as a percentage of income” figure that any of you know about?

Obscure Cream references = I (MnBubba) love you, man

(In a wholesome and manly way, of course)

  9. Kermit Says:

S’cool, Bubba. Mitch and I both love obscure music references. It’s a sign of a well-rounded cultural education. We knuckle-dragging conservatives have to have some redeeming attributes, after all.

    Chris Baker is still around?

I didn’t think the Cream ref was obscure at all. Tennis anybody?

  11. Kermit Says:

JP, that just makes you an old fart.

  12. K-Rod Says:

    jp, wouldn’t that be nice?

I was kind of surprised to see his name on the list of speakers as well. Last I heard he moved to Houston to do an afternoon show.

    Not obscure either:

And I’m only 38. Bonus: Ginger Baker playing the bongos without once removing the grit from his mouth.

  15. Kermit Says:

Face it, Foot. You’re a pre-fab old fart.
Now excuse me while I listen to Nantucket Sleighride.
