Wisconsin investigators announced on Friday that they’d figured out who sent the really really stupid death threats to Wisconsin’s GOP senators:

On the day Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker signed his Budget Repair Bill into law, authorities announced they had identified the sender of emails that threatened to kill the Governor and Republican members of the State Senate who supported the proposal.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation and the Wisconsin Capitol Police say they have investigated numerous threats against elected officials over the last four weeks. Thursday Night, the Division of Criminal Investigation identified and located a subject suspected of sending at least two of those threats.

“The Division of Criminal Investigation takes these kind of threats seriously and will follow through with the investigation and prosecution whenever possible,” DCI Administrator Ed Wall said.

Upon questioning, the suspect subsequently admitted to authoring and sending two e-mails threatening to kill the Governor and members of the Senate.

And that suspect has reportedly confessed

News that the state Justice Department has identified one suspect in connection with death threats sent to Republican state senators comes as at least a minor relief to Sen. Glenn Grothman (R-West Bend).

“They caught someone? Good,” he said Friday night. “I am waiting to hear the background of the type of person who would do such a devious thing.”

You’re not the only one, Senator.

  1. You don’t have to be Karnak the Magnificent figure out the background of the type of person who would do such a devious thing. You don’t even have to read HuffPo.

  2. Wow, a woman…..I mean Womyn, wrote that? There to very explicity death threats. One longer one to all Republican State Senators, and one sent just to Senator Kapanke of La Crosse. It’s a delightful dity that goes something like this:

    WE WILL HUNT YOU DOWN.
    WE WILL SLIT YOUR THROATS.
    WE WILL DRINK YOUR BLOOD.
I WILL HAVE YOUR DECAPITATED HEAD ON A PIKE IN THE MADISON TOWN SQUARE.
    THIS IS YOUR LAST WARNING.

  3. These guys don’t know how to do this & not end up in court.
A credible threat is generally considered by law enforcement to be specific. Writing someone a letter that says “You will burn in Hell” won’t do the trick, even in all-caps with many exclamation points.
However, writing “I will kill you so you will burn in Hell” will get you in deep kim chee.

  4. Any comment from DG?
Is this part of the avalanche?

No chance of that K-Rod. Mitch put up an O’Keefe thread, too. I’m sure DG will have plenty to say there.

  5. It is satisfying that all of the liberal visitors to this blog (and we know there are many) are hiding under their respective rocks as regards this left wing terrorism. Like “moderate Muslims”, it would be nice to see a few of them come out and repudiate this ugliness, but I hold no illusions in that regard.

  6. Some Politicians play this stuff up to make themselves appear victims.
Democrat Tom Pierriello was narrowly swept into US Congress on Obama’s coattails in2008 (he lost his seat last November). Pierriello immediately swerved hard left and became a Tea Party target person of interest. Around the time of the Obamacare care vote (he was for it) Pierriello’s brother got his Weber’s propane line cut.
He also got what he called “threatening” mail. It was the equivalent of “You’ll burn in Hell!” mail. He reported it to the authorities, but they did not find it to be a credible threat because it did not contain any specific threat against him or a member of his family.
Of course the fact that law enforcement did not find the message to be a credible threat did not stop Pierriello from holding a press congress about the “threat” that he had received, and the media without question repeated his unfounded accusation.

  7. This death threat has been turned over to the local Prosecuting Attourney. I am not sure what county that means but if it’s Dane County you can be assured that no charges will be brought against the sender.
