Nope. No Liberal Media Here.

It’s no secret – I think National Public Radio is a liberal enclave.

So do not a few noted liberals.

Even if I did believe that it was right for government to fund any media, whatever their politics, it wouldn’t be the clubby, sclerotic, gigantistic instition of National Public Radio (or the Corporation for Public Broadcasting).

And there’s some traction for that skepticism in Congress.

And this latest James O’Keefe video won’t help NPR’s case:

In a new video released Tuesday morning by conservative filmmaker James O’Keefe, Schiller and Betsy Liley, NPR’s director of institutional giving, are seen meeting with two men who, unbeknownst to the NPR executives, are posing as members of a Muslim Brotherhood front group. The men, who identified themselves as Ibrahim Kasaam and Amir Malik from the fictitious Muslim Education Action Center (MEAC) Trust, met with Schiller and Liley at Café Milano, a well-known Georgetown restaurant, and explained their desire to give to $5 million to NPR because, “the Zionist coverage is quite substantial elsewhere.”

On the tapes, Schiller wastes little time before attacking conservatives. The Republican Party, Schiller says, has been “hijacked by this group.” The man posing as Malik finishes the sentence by adding, “the radical, racist, Islamaphobic, Tea Party people.” Schiller agrees and intensifies the criticism, saying that the Tea Party people aren’t “just Islamaphobic, but really xenophobic, I mean basically they are, they believe in sort of white, middle-America gun-toting. I mean, it’s scary. They’re seriously racist, racist people.”

Schiller goes on to describe liberals as more intelligent and informed than conservatives. “In my personal opinion, liberals today might be more educated, fair and balanced than conservatives,” he said.

Watch the video here.

(And I’m waiting for the first lefty apologist to say “it’s only convicted criminal James O’Keefe”.  Go ahead.  Make my day).

  1. Which Berg’s Law was the one about liberal projection? You also have to love the arrogance mixed with a healthy dose of bigoted generalization. It just underscores how much “more intelligent and informed than conservatives” the liberal establishment must be.

  2. Hugh Hewitt picked Schiller’s words apart yesterday on his show. Hewitt tends to be less of a screamer on the radio…but not yesterday.

  3. This would be laugh out loud funny if it weren’t for the fact that these bigots were getting gov’t money (I know, I know – not directly from the Fed’s, but after it’s filtered through the affiiliates).
Gotta love this kid O’Keefe though-while Dateline colludes with the authorities entrapping losers/pedophiles (hmmm, where has Angryclown been lately?) and ABC News shows up at NASCAR events trolling for racists and homophobes among the goobers by salting the crowd with staffers saying racist, homophobic things, O’Keefe goes after people with influence and pierces the veil of moral superiority they have shrouded themselves in. These NPR folks are so comfortable in their bigotry that they express it without prompting when they believe they are among friends and fellow travelers.

  4. Two leftist dim-wits, expounding on the inherent intelligence of their ilk lay their heads on a platter labeled “SET-UP!!”.

A guy could burn rubber on the irony.

  5. O’Keefe has found a niche. Human nature loves to see powerful people undressed and exposed. We all know this is the way they talk in their cloistered little groups. To have it brought out like this is delicious.

  6. You people are just bitterly clinging to God and your guns, afraid of people who don’t look like you.
Hey, I’m sensing a pattern! I must be unfair and unbalanced. I’d better go listen to Talk of the Nation so I can find out what I’m supposed to be thinking.

  7. I only listen very selectively to Public Radio. Some of good music programs. If you want to get a sense of their political leanings, listen to the call-in shows. Holy smokes. No wonder Air America didn’t take off. The angry lefties are all listening to and calling into public radio to talk about how much they hate Republicans.

  8. I was actually thinking “well, it’s only the fundraising director,” and then I remembered that I’m personally “only” a rank other than reporter as well, and even I know better than to insult those with whom I disagree politically while at work.

That these guys apparently do not know this speaks, I would have to say, of the utter isolation found in elite academia and NPR.

It is also, as swiftee notes, delicious irony to see these “intellectuals” fall for this easy scam, and even more delicious to note that their attempts to “decry bigotry” fall into a base bigotry of their own–assuming that GOP voters in flyover country are necessarily racist. It would seem to indicate that having a prestigious degree is not assurance of being basically observant, let alone the ability to think.

  9. Just heard on the news that Hutchinson Tech is moving several jobs from Hutchinson to Eau Claire, Wisc. Could be almost anything (like age of facilities), but it would be interesting to know if Governor Walker’s reforms played into this decision.

  10. Hutch Tech’s facilities in MN are fairly new. Don’t know if electing Walker did the trick, but it sure didn’t hurt anything!

  11. At least O’Keefe didn’t try to lure Schiller and Liley onto his dildo lube boat.

That’s right. O’Keefe learned from his prior mistakes.

    Unlike you.

  12. Chuck/swiftee;

Hutch Tech has had that manufacturing plant in Eau Claire for several years. They are moving the remainder of their MN maufacturing there. HQ & R&D will stay in Hutch. Ironically, they were opening a manufacturing plant in Thailand, too. I would guess that Walkers policies had some impact.

The building in Hutch is relatively new, but it’s less than half occupied now.

If anyone remembers how their downward slide started, was that their largest customer, Seagate, suddenly stopped buying the volumes of drive suspensions that HTI was used to. The difference was that Seagate was able to source those components from a Japanese supplier. Obviously, labor costs figured into a buying decision, again!

  13. “And I’m waiting for the first lefty apologist…”

    Tim in StP Says:
    March 8th, 2011 at 11:49 am…
    “…dildo…”

  14. Timmy never fails. If the point is the arrogant bigotry of NPR officials, redirect to the messenger.
Tim, look up the many thesaurus entries for “flaccid”.

  15. Swiftee says: “leftist dim-wits”

    TiSP responds: “dildo lube boat!!1!”

    ~’nuff said.

  16. Um, Tim, you DO know the difference between anecdotal and statistical evidence, right? That a single video of a protest in LA does not implicate millions of “red state” voters any more than a single video of union thugs implicates unions in general?

    Right? Right?

Sigh. Mitch, time to run “logic for lefties,” if you think TiSP might listen…

And I believe, to be precise, that Seagate was working to move suspension production to companies building in China and Thailand, and tried previously to move it to Malaysia. Not Japan, though some of the design centers are there.

  17. The two ruler issue again.
Ted Kennedy rents whorehouses, abuses women physically and emotionally, and he’s a liberal hero.
O’Keefe does whatever he has done and liberals think that this characterizes everything else that he does.

  18. Once again TiminSTP fascinates with the link he directs the Mitchkateers to. The story reports that the people leading the protest REGRET the actions of a small group who broke away to get in the face of the fundraiser participants. Unfortunately, the video at Mediaite has been pulled, so I can’t determine how large or small the group was that broke away from the counterprotest.
Once again, TiminSTP, you point to a link that doesn’t support what your comment here claims and in fact disputes it. Curious. Aren’t you supposed to smart, Fredo?
I’m certain NPR appreciates your coming to its defense though TiminSTP. They have a tote bag with the slogan “State Supported Media Young Pioneer!!” stenciled on the side waiting for you – unless you want the latest Helen Thomas memoir, “Can’t Somebody do Something About Those G*D**** Joooos In the Palestinian Homeland?” – your choice.
BTW, it took this long to find “genuine” tape of TEA-Par-tayers expressing what is purported to be racism with all the TEA Par-tays last summer and previously? And it took no time at all to find your pals expressing their desire to lynch Justice Thomas?

  19. Schiller agrees and intensifies the criticism, saying that the Tea Party people aren’t “just Islamaphobic, but really xenophobic…”

And right wingers have a problem with the veracity of this view because….???

I tend to agree with pretty much most of the Tea Party platform and think of myself as conservative, and yet I attended an international school in Tokyo with over 40 nations represented in my graduating class alone, including *gasp* Islamic nations. And, get this, I still consider my graduating classmates friends. I know this is probably difficult for you to grasp, being a myopic butt-nugget and all.

Just my two cents on why “right wingers” may, possibly, have a problem with the veracity of this view.

    Butt-nugget.

  20. Yoss, Timmy is a bigot defending a fellow bigot. Don’t expect anything approaching a valid response. You xenophobe.
