Attention, Neighbors
By Mitch Berg
I think we owe ourselves a Christmas present:

Toshiba has developed a new class of micro size Nuclear Reactors that is designed to power individual apartment buildings or city blocks. The new reactor, which is only 20 feet by 6 feet, could change everything for small remote communities, small businesses or even a group of neighbors who are fed up with the power companies and want more control over their energy needs
That’s us – right?

I sent that to a friend of mine who is still without power due to a ice storm. He sent me back a email pointing out that Toshiba can’t even get his brand new laptop working correctly. I has a point. Still, after watching I AM LEGEND last week, I think I have at least one problem resolved come the day the vampires (or alternatively the zombies) take over.

he works at a bank in their security dept and as such has about 12 hours of free time a shift. Plenty of time to return emails, the building has power. Is that the rule up there? Lose power at home, don’t go to work? Is that like a union thing?
