Triangulators Run Wild!

By Mitch Berg

Hillary Clinton wraps herself…

…in the Second Amendment?

What else to make of the latest press release from Senator Clinton’s campaign, touting Senator Obama’s one-time support of “banning all handguns” as evidence that calls Mr. Obama’s “electability” into question?

Well, it’s a pleasure to welcome Mrs. Clinton to the Second Amendment side of the debate. It’s a new development; back in 2000, when Mrs. Clinton was running for Senate, she backed the “Million Mom March” for gun control, and, according to CNN, told the Newspaper Association of America, “We have to do more to stand up to those who refuse to believe the reality that guns do kill and that common-sense gun measures can make a difference.” When she ran for re-election in 2006, she earned a rating of “F” from the National Rifle Association’s Political Victory Fund.

Well, the news isn’t all “good”.  Indeed, it’s really a sign that Bill wasn’t the only out-of-control triangulator in the family.

Still…:

For some the gun issue is about the Constitution; for Mrs. Clinton, it’s apparently about “electability.” We’re less concerned about her motive than amused to see our senator attacking Mr. Obama from the right over the right-to-keep-and-bear-arms…here’s an example of the way in which the prospect of confronting voters in an election pulls a politician closer to a mainstream policy position.

At least until January of ’08…

You pissed that Hillary hasn’t flip-flopped on guns quite as spectacularly as Rudy?

  2. Jeff_McAwesome Says:

    Clown, yawn.

Mitch, I think you mean January of ’09.

  3. joelr Says:

I think it would be great if she flip-flopped as much as Rudy, myself. Or Romney.

  4. Badda Says:

    [AC mode]
Wingnuts, gun Nazis, morons, idiots, yeah Hillary!, yeah Wellstone!, Nazi-Nazis, blah, blah, blah…
    [/AC mode]

Joelr, I actually think Mitch does mean January ’08.

  5. Dave Says:

Yes, bitchieclown, Rudy has completely flip-flopped on gun control. We know that. Which is another reason he’s not running away with the GOP race. He’s a flip-flopper that can’t be trusted.

Now say the same thing for Hitlery…

  6. angryclown Says:

Nah Dave, Angryclown knows Hillary’s true plans and heartily approves. Once elected she’ll collect all the weapons from you gun nuts and give ’em to illegal aliens. Or maybe use ’em to shoot third-trimester fetuses.

  7. Dave Says:

…you forgot to include givin’ the guns to welfare moms, so they can steal money directly from banks instead of just waiting for their monthly welfare checks.

  8. Terry Says:

Anyone who wants to comment on politics & not be called a liar shouldn’t rely on NY Times editorials as a primary source.

  9. swiftee Says:

    Hey AssClown; a serious question:

The going rate for a shoe-shine, even in NYC can’t be more than $15 bucks tops, right?

So, how is it that you have enough spare time to spend every day here doing the asshat dance?

Seriously; do you live in your mommy’s basement or do you get a taste of your kids ‘shine money too…maybe a franchise fee?

  10. Badda Says:

Did Swiftee just tell AC to go get his effing shinebox?
    😀

  11. angryclown Says:

Suck it, Swiftee. Hard to take you seriously after you posted your kids’ grades here.

  12. swiftee Says:

Those shoes aren’t gonna shine themselves, Badda.

    Don’t be a hater, AssClown.

Word on the street is that your kids give the best shine in Times Square; so they got that going for them…which is nice.

  13. angryclown Says:

You know dick about my kids – including whether or not I even have any, Swiftee. I know your kids’ grades, college admissions test scores and one of their colleges. All cause you ponied ’em up in a sad but doomed attempt to win an argument with an angry moonbat clown. Punk move. Irresponsible parenting. But from the tales of your spittle-flecked diatribes against the local school board, it sounds like your need for attention has been the No. 1 priority for a long time.

  14. Troy Says:

I can’t imagine the grief angryclown would experience if swiftee actually did something bad. “I know your kids’ grades, blah blah blah”. Oh how horrible. 🙂

What are you, somebody’s grandmother? Do me a favor and don’t forward that internet tax e-mail, mkay?

  16. Troy Says:

I am just a very nice person who smiles a lot. Does that bother you angryclown? 🙂

  17. angryclown Says:

Makes it easier for you to coax children into your van I suppose.

And Mitch McConnell, that paragon of liberty said…

“Nobody is happy about losing lives but remember these are not draftees, these are full-time professional soldiers.”

    Senator Mitch McConnell
    Republican Minority Leader

So very nice, what a wonderful sentiment – sure am glad you ignore anything that isn’t complimentary/convenient Mitch. Perhaps you can now explain to the audience why the 2nd Amendment doesn’t prevent the States from passing laws that restrict gun ownership (as long as they don’t totally strip the right to own weapons), and THEN you can explain to the families of soldiers killed in Iraq what compassionate folks you guys are, I mean, since they don’t matter as much as draftees, they volunteered, it’s not like they didn’t know going in… as if that makes a damned bit of difference. But focus on Hilary, attack always, no accountability ever.

    Sheer class…

I guess your Liliputians have started in on AC now that I couldn’t give a crap what they say.. you guys are a real hoot – in a barking mad hoot-owl sort of way – and as the ring leader Mitch, I guess that you sure do lead by example. Oh, wait, I know, it’s MY fault isn’t it.. I mean, you’re not responsible for your conduct.

AC, Troy is one of the more pleasant ones, I know he seems a little goofey, but he and Kerm are people who actually try to be civil most of the time (as opposed to Swift, Mitch, or Badda) – though I know Berg tries to be a little civil to you. So please be gentle with Troy, he means well most of the time, and seems like a decent person, even has several good points to make when he gets out from behind GOP planks. Now why he’d defend Swift.. anyone’s guess, but mine is he lives near a crystal meth factory (no, not really Troy – but you gotta admit, defending that whackjob is pretty unstable ground).

  19. Mitch Says:

And Mitch McConnell, that paragon of liberty said…

“Nobody is happy about losing lives but remember these are not draftees, these are full-time professional soldiers.”

Leave aside that you are mangling the context of McConnell’s remarks to an extent that really does swerve into deception; what on earth does this have to do with the topic of this thread?

    Oh, I’ll answer that. Nothing!

sure am glad you ignore anything that isn’t complimentary/convenient Mitch.

More like “off-topic”, but who’s keeping track.

Perhaps you can now explain to the audience why the 2nd Amendment doesn’t prevent the States from passing laws that restrict gun ownership (as long as they don’t totally strip the right to own weapons),

I’ve never said any such thing!

and THEN you can explain to the families of soldiers killed in Iraq what compassionate folks you guys are

The non-sequitur is puzzling – but only for as long as it takes to shake my head and move on.

I guess your Liliputians have started in on AC now

Perhaps you’re new to this blog, but in case you hadn’t noticed, Clown kinda likes it when people gang up on him. It gives him something to do while he’s jammed into that tiny car. Especially when he gets stuck behind Gassyclown (who has IBS really, really bad) and Slashclown (who won’t stop jabbering about the Beatles).

as the ring leader Mitch, I guess that you sure do lead by example.

By “posting” “things” on my “blog”, you mean?

Or by throwing barbs at Clown? Which – in case you’re new to this blog – we do a lot of?

Oh, wait, I know, it’s MY fault isn’t it.. I mean, you’re not responsible for your conduct.

Not sure what “conduct” you’re talking about, Peev. But I don’t think you’re sure, either, so it all works out.

people who actually try to be civil most of the time (as opposed to Swift, Mitch, or Badda)

Oh, Peev. Peev Peev Peev. I always try to be civil. You just dig so damn hard to find offense!

  20. swiftee Says:

AssClown’s not angry, he’s bitter…and with good reason.

Like all lefties AC blames the world for the fact that his kids have followed his example and now eke out a living shining the shoes of people who have made successes of themselves…heck, he’s probably not even 100% sure those kids are “his”.

No wonder he spends all of his time spewing bilious hatred in internet comment threads…I pity the fool. 😉

  21. Troy Says:

angryclown said: “Makes it easier for you to coax children into your van I suppose.”

I’d be offended, but it was you who said it, angryclown. Who can stay mad at angryclown?

peevish said: “please be gentle with Troy”

I do try to be civil peevish, but I am not made of glass. I also didn’t really think I was defending swiftee (I think he can defend himself), but more pointing out the fragility of angryclowns attack. It was kind of lame. I know he can do better, but he has yet to prove it in this thread… 🙂

  22. Badda Says:

Looks like Peev’s looking for another quote from “Stripes”.
