Abercrombie announced yesterday that he’s seen the Obama birth certificate, but can’t release it:

Unspoken is the fact that Obama, who Abercrombie claims he has known since his childhood, will not allow its release. Abercrombie appears more befuddled than usual, even shaken. I wonder what he saw?
I’m not a birther — Until I see convincing contrary evidence I will continue to believe Obama is as much a natural born U.S. citizen as I am — but I am growing more inclined to believe that it contains info that Obama would find embarrassing, or that at least is more useful for being obscured.

I’ve seen the “birth certificate” that the Obama camp has posted. It has the registration number redacted, which renders it it null and void legally. This is not the only thing that makes Great Leader Barack stink to high Heaven. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck…

that suggests that the issue isn’t where he was born but what his legal name is.

LF, the document I saw (Obama’s “birth certificate”) says quite plainly on the bottom that if any part is altered or modified it is null and void. Redacting the registration number would qualify as altering. Roll your eyes at that.

A real journalist would begin by finding someone who was born in Honolulu about the same time as Obama and who is in possession of his or her’s original birth certificate. Compare it to the version Obama has released & see what information fields are present on the original but not on Obama’s PDF version.
The state has been cagey about what records exist in the archives, and the excuses of Abercrombie and the state AG are bunkum. The local papers haven’t even asked them if they have tried to get Obama’s permission to release the original birth certificate.

I think that’s it. Making opponents look ca-razy is of political value. Providing actual clarity is a losing proposition for President Obama.
