The Real Terrorists

By Mitch Berg

Good news: the FBI has arrested a Somali teen for attempting to blow up a Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Portland Oregon.

Unfortunately, I can’t figure out whether Mohammed Muhammed, the alleged bomber, is  an anti-tax terrorist, or a pro-second-amendment kind of terrorist, or pro-life terrorists, or one of the anti-gay-marriage kind of terrorists?

How does the President and Secretary Napolitano expect us to fight terror if they won’t tell us what kind of domestic terror was involved?

On the news last night they said they couldn’t associate the suspect with any terrorist organization. How about Islam?

  2. kel Says:

not to worry DG will do what passes for “research” in her world and discover that Mohammed Muhammed is actually member of the Aryan Nation and a Republican activist then she and peev will drool out 10,000 word screeds for their 17 faithful readers proving that Bush, Koch, and the tea party were behind it. DG and peev will become overnight sensations as “Oregon Truthers”

I suspect he’s mp3 file-sharer angered that Homeland Security just seized some web sites to enforce recording studio profits.

Homeland Security – is there anything it can’t do?

  5. Kermit Says:

Maybe he’s one of those Norwegian terrorists. I bet his name is really Lars.

  6. kel Says:

“Lars” Muhammed? really Kermit, ya think?

  7. Kermit Says:

It makes as much sense as anything Janet Napolitano says.

  8. Chuck Says:

Remember when the Toronto paper said that the Islamic terrorists caught in Canada have no common denomintor, that they “represent a broad strata of Canadians”? That headline was above a picture of 7 or so terrorists in traditional Islamic clothing and headwear.

Better yet…the Mayor of Portland is a wacko lefty who got caught in bed with a 17 year old boy. The joke there is that you ony have to be 17 years old to suck on a Sam Adams (the mayors name) in Portland. Five years ago, the mayor voted with the majority on the city council to not cooperate with federal anti-terrorism efforts.

  9. Ben Says:

Almost makes me wish in a sick way that he succeeded. Is it wrong to think that?

  10. Kermit Says:

    Yes Ben. It is.

  11. Lars Walker Says:

Kermit: You think that’s funny, infidel?

  12. Ben Says:

Oh well, maybe they will wake up now. Reports are saying that when he was arrested he laughed when he was asked about if he was concerned about Portland’s police finding out about him. We got lucky again, how much more time before our luck runs out?

  13. Mitch Berg Says:

Five years ago, the mayor voted with the majority on the city council to not cooperate with federal anti-terrorism efforts.

Now there’s a conspiracy for the left to wrap its pipe-cleaner arms around; what better place for the FBI to try to run a sting on would-be terrorists than a city where the mayor – a guy who fits ultra-lefty stereotypes conservatives haven’t even gotten around to bagging on yet – claims to not cooperate with the feds?

Perhaps Portland is the 21st century equivalent of a “Q Ship” – a decoy, designed to lull terrorists into thinking they’ve got an easy target!

Perhaps Portland’s mayor is actually working for the Feds!

    What impeccable cover!

  14. Ben Says:

Anyone noticed how this story has been buried for the most part? can you
imagine if it was a christian trying to blow up a Ramadan celebration with
a bunch of Muslims gathered. The hypocricy would be funny if it wasn’t so sad and disgusting.

  15. Master of None Says:

I don’t know what you guys are so worried about. It’s not like there are a bunch of Somali teenagers running around Minneapolis and St Paul. Wait… oh shit!

  16. Ben Says:

Perhaps Portland’s mayor is actually working for the Feds!

Yeah and maybe im a liberal who has been posing as a conservative these past few years trying to gather intel on you guys.

  17. Ben Says:

Next target, MOA. Talk about soft…

  18. kel Says:

    >>Next target, MOA. Talk about soft…

yeah Little Mogadishu (used to be West Bank) is one of the stops on the light rail – can’t be much more convenient than that.

  19. Kermit Says:

No Lars, I don’t think it’s funny. I don’t think importing tens of thousands of potential murderers is funny. I find nothing funny about the Somali “community” in Minnesota.

Our “Homeland Security” secretary is more worried about American soldiers coming home than she is Muslim fanatics in our midst. There is nothing at all funny about this.

  20. Ben Says:

I picture Lars doing that line in a voice like Mohammed the Dead Terrorist from Jeff Dunham standup. Anyone know what I’m talking about?

  21. Chuck Says:

Said the Portland terrorist to his friends (repeadly): “I hate Americans”.

So, I am happy my Norweigen and German ancestors kept busy clearing the land and farming (and learning English). They appreciated what they got by coming here. Killing Americans once they got here never was something that crossed their minds.

  22. Night Writer Says:

It’s Achmed, not Mohammad, and he’ll kill you!

  23. K-Rod Says:

    Ben,

    “Infidellll!!! I kill you!!!!”

  24. Kermit Says:

I know Achmed. I’ve worked with Achmed and I can say Mohammad, you are no Achmed.

  25. Mitch Berg Says:

Jeff Dunham, living proof that comedians needn’t actually be funny to be successful.

  26. mnbubba Says:

Sez Ben: “Anyone noticed how this story has been buried for the most part?”

I expect the MSM and leftysphere will quickly meme-ize (is that a word?) Greenwald’s contention that Little Mo was a teenage nebbish entrapped by the feds.

  27. Lars Walker Says:

For the record, I was going along with the gag. Because my name’s Lars, get it?

    Jeez, what a tough room.

  28. DiscordianStooj Says:

I would imagine that he is both anti-abortion and anti-gay marriage, along with hating and wanting to kill Americans in general.

  29. Kermit Says:

Lars, I know funny. I used to blog at Anti-Strib.

  30. Nachman Says:

I agree with Kermit. This isn’t funny anymore – not with jihad apologists like Glenn Greenwald running around. He is not the only one. We have our own here in Minnesota. Jordan Kushner is one. The Anti War Committee is another. Brian Hokanson and his Twin Cities Indymedia gives them aid and comfort.

The SPLC has really stepped over the line on this one. Religious organizations who are against same sex “marriage” are now hate groups? The SPLC is now officially on record, declaring normative Judaism and Christianity to be hate groups.

It was the pro-same sex “marriage” people who invaded the church in Michigan and who protested against the Mormons. It was the GBLTs who became violent against evangelical Christians. This exhibition of violent anti-Christian bigotry escaped the notice of the SPLC and the multicultists, to their shame.

  31. Kermit Says:

Hmm. I’m anti-abortion, and marriage is now and will always be the union of one man and one woman. Period.
Yet, I have never had any desire to blow people up. Isn’t that strange?

  32. Ben Says:

Kermit, you are CLEARLY the exception that proves the rule.

  33. Terry Says:

Nachman, I suspect SPLC is trying to mine new donors.
I went and looked at the SPLC website and found this:

This idea that being gay is a choice is a key concept in the anti-gay movement. If homosexuality is genetic, as most scientists believe, the movement to deny equality to homosexuals is just as discriminatory as Jim Crow segregation, an analogy anti-gay groups want to discourage.

This is one hell of a lot lies and propaganda to pack into a single sentence.
Most scientists believe homosexuality is genetic? I’d love to see a cite for this.

  34. Terry Says:

I would imagine that he is both anti-abortion and anti-gay marriage, along with hating and wanting to kill Americans in general.

I imagine he hates politically active Christians, just like many liberals do.
Their is a reason smears are considered ineffective arguments, Disco.

  35. Terry Says:

I heard an NPR report on the wannabe mass murderer in Portland. They mentioned that he was a naturalized citizen, born in Somali. They mention his name is Mohammed Muhammed. They did not mention his religion, or the word “Islam”, or the fact that he yelled “Allahu akbar” as he was taken into custody.
Yet an AP story carried on the NPR website says the Muslim community in Portland fears a backlash from the bombing conspiracy. Whatever on Earth for?

  36. kel Says:

Terry if you want to see a magnificent combination of ignorance and bigotry pop over to the penigma site and read DGs anti-catholic post of 11/28/2010.

Here’s a short sample from our favorite fact checker(I kid you not):
The church for example, at the Council of Trent in 1642, while establishing the foundation for that horror, the Spanish Inquisition, decreed that abortion, homosexuality, masturbation, and contraception were Mortal sins, sins punishable by death of the soul. Fornication, adultery, INCEST AND RAPE were venial sins, sins for which the penalty was lesser.

  37. Terry Says:

I wrote a paper on the Inquisition back in my undergrad days, Kel (medieval cultural history used to be a favorite of mine).
Two things stand out in my memory: the Inquisition makes more sense if you consider it a result of the bloody politics and wars of the time than if you consider it a natural outgrowth of Catholicism, and that much of its infamy is a result of the Napoleanic Wars. Napolean considered himself the champion of Reason against the revanchist forces of mystery and superstition. When he conquered Spain and put his brother on its throne he took particular delight in anathematizing the decrepit remnants of the ancient regime.
I am a Lutheran, but I readily admit that Gustavus Adolphus matched the Inquisition, cruelty for cruelty, during the Thirty Years War.

  38. kel Says:

terry what I enjoyed most about the above quote from DG is how much she got wrong in 2 sentences

the Council of Trent did not take place in the 17th century

the Spanish Inquisition a franchise owned and operated by the King & Queen of Spain, and not the Vatican, predated the Council of Trent by at least 70 years

the Council of Trent categorically did not downgrade one of the 10 commandments to a venial / lesser sin

ALL the sins DG listed have been considered mortal sins since the beginning of Christianity

pretty shabby for the self professed champion fact checker

  39. Mr. D Says:

pretty shabby for the self professed champion fact checker

Exactly, kel. Not surprising in the least, though — anti-Catholic sentiment has been running high on the Left for a long time now.

  40. Terry Says:

Yeah, sorry I got off on the politics-versus-religion & Napoleanic influence on the Inqusition narrative, Kel. !645 was way too late. The Inquisition began (in Spain) shortly after Spanish Reconquista in 1492. It spread through the rest of Catholic Europe as the influence of the Spanish Hapsburgs grew in the Holy Roman Empire.

  41. Night Writer Says:

    In other news:

Aristotle was not Belgian, the principle of Buddhism is not “every man for himself”, and the London Underground is not a political movement. Those are all mistakes, DG. I looked them up.

  42. DiscordianStooj Says:

Yet, I have never had any desire to blow people up. Isn’t that strange?

Not at all. Most Somalis don’t have any desire to blow anyone up either.

Their is a reason smears are considered ineffective arguments, Disco.

That also applies to the smears here against Somalis, I hope.

  43. Kermit Says:

Most Somalis don’t have any desire to blow anyone up either
Right. Ever wonder why there are so many Somali refugees, Stoo? For that matter, have you ever considered applying logic to your opinions?

  44. Mitch Berg Says:

Most Somalis don’t have any desire to blow anyone up either.

We’re not talking about “most” Somalis.

Just the rather high number, per-capita, that do seem to have that desire.
