…there may never be a better cover song than the Four Tops version of “Walk Away Renee”.

Motown forever Mitch! As much as you and I rarely disagree, and as much Motown is one of the defining sounds for my youth, The Left Bank original version (and one of my all time favorites) still scores higher.

CSN’s cover of “Blackbird” really has to be a contender, as is Still’s cover of “You Can’t Catch Me”.

I love the Left Banke’s version, too – not to mention Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes’ version. But nobody, but nobody, sings like Levi Stubbs.

…”But nobody, but nobody, sings like Levi Stubbs.”…AMEN!!! In a class ALL alone. I sometimes wish there was an all Motown radio station (maybe there is on satellite radio…?).
