Unauthorized Biography
By Mitch Berg
Sheila Kihne – whom I christened the Minnesota conservative blogosphere’s “Rookie of the Year” at an event the other night – unleashes a Scott-Johnson-caliber take-down of Mark Dayton’s entire biography over at Activist Next Door and True North, tying together his years as a radical hippie/”School Teacher”, his lamentable Senate career, and his mental health and chemical dependency issues.
Almost-but-not-quite conclusion:
Do we see a pattern? [Read her piece. You will see a pattern – Ed.]
Here are two facts:
1. During his very first job out-of-college as “a teacher”-Mark Dayton couldn’t handle the pressure- he took time off to protest and he quit in the middle of a school year for “personal reasons.”
2. During his last job as U.S. Senator- He couldn’t handle the pressure in D.C.– he shut down his office and started drinking to deal with the stress.
The media has covered for him, but worse than that they’ve actually lied for him. For years every profile has perpetuated the myth that Dayton is hard-working. He may be a hard-campaigner (who isn’t?), that doesn’t mean he’s a hard-worker. I know people who are great at getting jobs, but once that goal has been met—they get bored, complacent, or overwhelmed. He reminds me of Obama in this regard. He’ll work his butt off to accomplish a goal that involves some self-fulfillment, but when reality doesn’t match his expectations, he simply can’t handle it.
With a $6 Billion budget deficit…we need somebody who can handle it.
Go and read the whole thing.

I did read the whole thing. Fantastic piece and a story that needs to be told.

There is something seriously wrong with Dayton. Baby Boomer moral vanity + depression and alcohol issues + money.
His history seems to be achievement (with the help of money) followed by disappointment in the achievement, followed by depression and an alcoholic relapse, followed by “recovery”, then repeat.

“Rookie of the Year” — I’ve been reading her blog for about 2 years

“There is something seriously wrong with Dayton. Baby Boomer moral vanity + depression and alcohol issues + money.”
There is something even more seriously wrong with Mad Mark, he’s categorically meshuggener. The question remains WHY the MSM won’t expose this unbalanced fool?

Because he’s a Democrat, Scott. The DFL could run Jeffery Dahmer’s corpse and they ould run flak.

I had not known about the CA New Age guru.
I’ve known some seriously messed up rich people. Dayton fits a pattern.
Rich kid has esteem problems. Rich kid has an ego. Rich kid drinks or does drugs until even they know they have a problem. Rich kid seeks counseling, not from traditional sources, but from someone who will massage their ego.
It is insidious, because the rich kid will purposely choose a “counselor” whom they know is open to bribes.
The one thing the rich kid needs to hear and that he will do anything to avoid hearing is that their problems aren’t important to the rest of the world and that there is no one that they can bribe to make their problems go away.

I hear you Kermit, it’s sad but undoubtedly true.

I read the whole thing and would tell you that were she writing this piece for the Strib, I would A) predict the Vikings to win the Super Bowl this year and, B) actually consider re-subscribing. Of course the truth is no such examination of Dayton will ever appear for mass consumption. Bless the Internet. From the tone and timbre of the article I think it’s safe to say that Dayton has not recently given to any Christian charities, si?

Ya’ gotta love a lady that calls it like it is: “a crock of shit comes to mind.”
Classic!
On another note, not that it will do any good, but I was feeling a little more pissed off than usual this morning, but I filed a complaint on WDFL with the FCC for failure to serve in the public interest by delivering one sided views and in essence, not treating all candidates equally in their vetting process. Funny though; they sure are willing to take GOP ad money. Liberat hypocrisy at its finest.

Only the ones who have decided to ordain practicing homosexuals.

But they have to be in a “committed relationship”, Kermit.
I was in a “committed relationship” (with a girl) when I was fifteen. I can remember her name but not what she looked like.

They also have to rewrite the Bible.
October 13th, 2010 at 4:04 pm
The usual path exegesis takes to condemn homosexuality is that when Christ spoke about the Law with authority it was to override it, as when He spoke about divorce. His silence concerning same sex relations is assumed to mean that He agreed with OT proscriptions re homosexuality.
There are two Christian arguments against homosexuality that I know of that do not rely on scripture: The first is that it is vanity, a form of self-love; the second is male-specific and a bit too gross for Mitch’s blog, but it involves symbolically debasing the material of life and procreation with the material of death and decay.

ya know, Biblically speaking, Dayton’s interaction with the Esalen group probably is far more significant than ELCA’s recent move, as the former is idolatry. Sorry about indulging an off topic comment, but….
…at any rate, loved the writeup. I’m afraid that bios like Dayton’s are all too common at the Strib and other places that would vote him, Rahelio Soleil, and the like. It’s not even noteworthy anymore, sad to say.
October 13th, 2010 at 6:30 pm
Yeah Smokey, Jesus never addressed bestiality either. Mark Hanson, Bishop of the ELCA would interpret that as tacit approval.
October 13th, 2010 at 7:24 pm
Ohhhh I wish I could discuss the ELCA, but that is not the subject of Mr Berg’s blog. All I’ll say is that “the delegation expressed their solidarity with Chairman Arafat”.

You know, I’d almost be tempted to vote for Dayton, if he’d PROMISE to spend his entire term cowering in a closet in the Governor’s Mansion.
October 14th, 2010 at 8:24 pm
Wait, Dayton stood with Arafat? Do we have video of this?
