Stanek Out
By Mitch Berg
MDE reports that Rich Stanek isn’t going to run for Jim Ramstad’s 3rd CD seat.
Stanek, the Henco sheriff, would have made a great congressional representative – but would have had to spend a lot of time and effort fighting off recycled palaver over his past racist remarks and actions (for which he’s worked harder than anyone I know if in the public eye to atone, and for which even the crypto-maoist City Pages has (grudgingly) declared him rehabilitated – not that any of that matters to the local media).
He leaves behind a decent field of solid conservatives.
More – much, much more – on this race over the next 11 months.

Sen. Larry Craig is looking for a new job. He’s conservative and he knows how to reach out to Twin Cities law enforcement.

As I live in the 3rd CD, here’s a clue Mitch, neither John Kline nor Michelle Bachmann could win here, not even close.
If you run someone like it, who ever it is will both fail to get the nomination, and if somehow they did, they’d get crushed in the general election.
Since there are no ‘conservatives’ any more, meaning fiscal policy was abrogatted to the alleged ‘war on terror’ and tax cuts for the rich, since ethical standards became as quaint as the Geneva Convention for the Republican party, I guess I’m a litte confused over what ‘conservative’ means any longer.
Clearly it doesn’t mean small government
Clearly it doesn’t mean ethical conduct
Clearly it doesn’t mean military isolation
So, outside of fictional wars on words – in countries that weren’t participants in attacks on 9/11 – so that the pockets of Blackwater, or KBR, or Bechtel, can be lined with our hard earned tax dollars, what does ‘conservative’ mean?
And AC – laughing out loud.

Peev,
Too many strawmen to kill in that comment.
AC,
It’s amazing how still people keep their toes in the mens’ room around here these days.

I know it’s a pansy-ass libral mag, but you guys would appreciate the cover of the current New Yorker:

Course it wouldn’t kill you to read Sy Hirsch’s latest, while you’re there. But Angryclown keeps his expectations low.

That I read more often than not. If only for the cartoons.
but you guys would appreciate the cover of the current New Yorker:
Dunno what you mean by “appreciate”, but it gave me a chuckle.

A shame he blew the whistle on all the fun at Abu Ghraib, eh?

Where “blew the whistle” = “turned something the military was already investigating into a media circus and red meat for the agenda-driven mainstream media”?
Sure!

“Investigating.” That’s pretty funny. Kinda the way OJ is still investigating to find the real murderers.

Kinda the way OJ is still
Where “Kinda” = “not kinda at all”

More like Inspector Clouseau investigating the theft of the Pink Panther diamond?

Are you saying that our military is like some French guy? Why do you hate the troops?

I’ll bite. What did Sy Hirsch make up this time? We finally going to invade Belgium? Let me see if I can find a copy of Stars and Stripes, see what 6 month old story he might be reporting.

ok, AC. Your correct. The cover is pretty good. Maybe later, just because you were right about the cover, I will review Hirsch’s article.
