I’m torn between my dislilke of the anti-smoking fanatics and my dislike of smokey bars. I’ll mull it over a beer and burner in a Wisc bar.

Everytime I see one of those sanctimonious bastards on those TRUTH commercials, it makes me want to fire up a cigarette and I have never smoked in my life. I also hate coming home from the bar smelling like a ashtray, yet I don’t feel I should use the power of the state to regulate someone else’s business. Until the day the government outlaws tobacco and stops collection the massive tax from the sale there of, any non-smoking laws just reek of hypocrisy.

That’s us. We hate to stink like smoke after going out, but on the other hand, it’s so WRONG to tell proprietors what to do! I’ve shocked my in-laws (not hard to do) by saying I think it should be up to the property owner/tax paying citizen. They’re aghast, which annoys the hell out of me. Surely if something is unhealthy, stinky, “sinful” (their idea, not mine), NO ONE should be allowed to do it…

What about a nice pipe or good cigar? They smell kind of good really…at least at first. When it comes to cigarettes, tho…yuck. So then again, it sure will be nice…

Go for it, Buzzkill. Two, three packs a day. Just to show Angryclown!

This is conservatives version of BDS. Some of us are tempted to take up smoking as we’d rather die from lung cancer then give in to the anti-smoking fanatics.

  6. Andrew Rothman Says:

If the state shouldn’t regulate environmental exposure to tobacco smoke in the workplace, should they get out of the workplace safety biz altogether? Dissolve OSHA?

All that’s happened, essentially, is that smoke has lost its longtime exemption.

  7. buzz Says:

Angryclown is a fan of those commercials? And a fan of using all that tobacco money to make those commercials? Angryclown is a smoker? Or is angryclown a rabid anti-smoker?

  8. Mitch Says:

I’ve never smoked in my life (but for the odd cigar, 4-6 times a years), and I don’t plan to start.

And as someone who used to work in bars, I don’t mind fresh air one bit (the better to smell all the vomit and chick-drinks).

But this is a gross violation of property rights; to put it in liberal terms, it’s an Abu-Ghraib-y Holocaust of Property Rights Genocide. (Yes, I know, I still have to explain the notion of “property rights” to them, but…)
