All In The Timing
By Mitch Berg
So yesterday former Emmer campaign manager Mark Buesgens was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
Well, that’s news, sorta. Granted, Buesgens left the campaign over a week ago, but facts are facts.
Of course, the media flogged the “story” that Tom Emmer had had two alcohol-related careless driving convictions, in 1981 and 1991 – nearly twenty and thirty years ago – earlier in the campaign.
So at least the Buesgens story was timely
Now, this…:
Another DWI with Emmer campaign ties

The Associated Press is reporting that the former manager of Republican Tom Emmer’s gubernatorial campaign, David Fitzsimmons, was arrested for drunk driving…
Hm. I’ve met Dave. Didn’t know about this.
Was it…recent?
…shortly after stepping down from that job back in May.
Fitzsimmons was arrested for DWI in Hennepin County on May 16,
May 16? This story happened after the convention, and three months before the primary, but MPR’s Tim Pugmire felt the need to run the story yesterday? Why, what could have possibly happened yesterday?
Could it have been that Fitzsimmons was convicted of DWI yesterday?
but he was not convicted.
Ah. So he was acquitted yesterday?
From the Henco court record:
08/25/2010
Disposition (Judicial Officer: Hedlund, Deborah)
1. Traffic regulation – failure to drive in single lane-hazardous
Convicted
2. Traffic – DWI – Operate Motor Vehicle – Alcohol Concentration 0.08 Within 2 Hours
Dismissed
Er…so the case was disposed of three weeks ago?
So the “news” is not actually “new?”
The revelation about Fitzsimmons followed today’s earlier news that state Rep. Mark Buesgens, R-Jordan, was arrested for DWI Saturday in Wright County. Buesgens was Emmer’s campaign chairman until about a week ago.
Odd choice of term, “revelation”. It’s the noun form of “to reveal”. Who “revealed” it?
Because here’s my guess: The DFL has been sitting on this “revelation” since May. Dayton’s budget plan is in trouble, his numbers are diving, and he really has nothing up his sleeve. His opposition people did what oppo people do; found an opportunity (Buesgen’s arrest) to drop the Fitzsimmons story. They placed it with the media, to further the narrative that the Dayton Campaign has been running since the beginning. You know – the one that starts…:
Emmer had his own DWI issues in 1981 and 1991.
…and has been rammed home with about 20,000 ads paid for by “Alliance For A Better Minnesota” over the past few months.
It’s better for the DFL if people focus on drunk driving incidents (even if they have nothing to do with the campaign, with Emmer’s policies and plans, than on the ongoing disintegration of the Dayton campaign.

I think Buesgens and Fitzsimmons should be sent to Hazelden immediately. Maybe they can get Dayton’s room.

This seems like its the only DFL tactic when attacking Emmer. Methinks some people are possibly getting desperate or hiding something.

Someone must have questioned Tim Pugmire’s loyalty to the Tic Party.

And that MAN wants to be governor?
September 21st, 2010 at 10:46 am
This would be like trying to tie Dayton and Betty to Mia Mauo and her $800,000, 40 year adjustable rate mortgage home she purchased with her $30,000 a year salary. And these people think they can solve the budget crisis?
September 21st, 2010 at 1:21 pm
Could it be that no one found out about it until yesterday?
You are assuming that someone sat on this; might not have.
Dayton, having announced specifics and had them analyzed by the Dept of Revenue seems in no greater or worse shape than Emmer who has not.
Dayton has been more transparent and more specific than Emmer; Emmer hasn’t pulled ahead of Dayton so far, so I doubt that Dayton is sweating it especially.
Horner seems to be gaining on both, and there appear to be a large percentage of undecideds.
Methinks thou dost exaggerate the situation for spin, darlin’.

Only if you ignore the facts (!) that the MNDoR’s vetting showed Dayton’s “tax the rich” plan will raise less than half of what his plan said, AND that every single element of Emmer’s plan was vetted by MNDoR – merely not as one document.
Dayton has been more transparent and more specific than Emmer;
I’m sorry, but to claim that is pure madness. Dayton’s budget plan lacks entire sections of the budget; his “plan” is in an old PDF on his website; Emmer has his prominently displayed, and it covers EVERY part of the budget.
Emmer hasn’t pulled ahead of Dayton so far, so I doubt that Dayton is sweating it especially.
I’m really not sure where you get this, DG. Dayton’s dropped from 16 points up on August 2, to two points today. And the momentum is ALL Emmer.
Methinks thou dost exaggerate the situation for spin, darlin’.
Well, somebody in this conversation sure is…

Dam, Mitch, you’re a dumb(cheney).
Gullible, too. Not to mention, fullash*t.
And if any of your brain-dead bootlickers want to read about someone whom facts really, Really, REALLY don’t matter to, link here:
BachmannMotorMouthOverdrive
Gee – that makes her ZERO for ELEVEN on the national stage….
Oh, and about Buesgens?
The “best” is yet to come….from official police reports.
Those cops must be liberal/leftist/socialist/French Fry Eatin’ Appeasers, “right” Mitch?
September 22nd, 2010 at 7:15 am
So your “argument” is “you are teh stupid, and someone else lied anyway?”
Hm. You go ahead and stick with that.
Sorry, “Tommy”, I actually took the time to get the actual facts.
The “best” about Buesgens is totally irrelevant; whatever he did is between him and the law, because he’s not with the campaign.
September 22nd, 2010 at 8:14 am
Yes, Mitch – you ARE “teh stupid.”
The “best” about Buesgens is totally irrelevant; whatever he did is between him and the law, because he’s not with the campaign.
Really? Then why did the Forest Lake Tea Party toss Buesgens under the bus?
Your “facts” may work on your world, Mitch, but here on terra firma?
Not so much.
It’s guys like you, Mitch, that caused The Small Tent Party to become so small.
September 22nd, 2010 at 8:27 am
Then why did the Forest Lake Tea Party
OH NO! THE FOREST LAKE TEA PARTY!
THEY TOSSED BUESGENS UNDER THE BUS!
RUN FOR THE HILLS!
Sheesh, Tommy. I’ll write slowly.
I wasn’t at the Forest Lake Tea Party, and either were you. I have no idea who introduced whom as what, or – more importantly – why. And either do you. But the fact (heh) is, he was off the Emmer payroll on 9/12. That’s an absolute fact.
I have no interest in or allegiance to Buesgens, at least as far as his charges go. Was he driving under theinfluence? Seems like a pretty good case, but that’s for courts to decide, and it’s irrelevant to me.
It’s guys like you
I’m that powerful? Who knew?
September 22nd, 2010 at 11:38 am
Wait, a random Tea Partier who probably didnt even know who Buesgens is, introduced him by an out of date title?
Well, there’s your proof, Mitch. How can you be so stupid?
TwoInchTommy, what’s the matter, is Shot In The Dark the only blog that hasn’t banned you yet?
September 22nd, 2010 at 2:59 pm
haha TwoInchTommy, you know I’m starting to think that he was/is penigma. I mean I haven’t seen pen post on here in months. Right around the time Tommy started commenting regularly…
September 22nd, 2010 at 11:02 pm
Just wait a bit and you’ll see, after everything he’s written is shot down, he’ll claim victory.
I’m thinking either his reading comprehension is almost nonexistent, or he calls his pet unicorn “terra firma”, unaware that the words have a more common meaning.
