OK, so I have never watched an episode of this show. I must presume there is a context which adds some additional depth to this of which I am unaware.
It wouldn’t be the first time.

Believe it or not, (with my family background) I never watched that show…
This is the sort of things that happens in at least one episode of pretty much every TV show I have ever seen, convincing me that all TV actors and actresses have their hearts in Broadway productions… or that the producesr are smoking something illicit.
Maybe that explains why 99% of people in Hollywood are dimocrats. 😉

There is MUCH context to the clip, which makes it (to me) an incredibly poignant bit. I doubt it explains well in text.
